Ragnarok the Animation is an anime and Korean animation series based on the MMORPG Ragnarok Online, produced in the first quarter of 2004 and was broadcast on TV Tokyo of Japan.

It is based off the Korean "Ragnarok" manhwa by Lee Myung-jin. The manhwa was published in South Korea by Daiwon C.I. in Comic Champ starting 1995. The anime adaptation was written by Hideki Mistui and Lee Myung-jin, Directed by Seiji Kishi and Kim Jung Ryool and produced by Seichi Hori and Cheong Dae Sik under the studios G&G Entertainment and Gonzo.

Ragnarok the Animation Plot:

Ragnarok The Animation does not follow the original manhwa but is still in the world of Rune-Midgard. It starts following Roan, a swordsman, and Yufa, an acolyte, and their adventures through Rune-Midgard. They come across bosses and dungeons following the leveling path of players in Ragnarok Online as well as the dungeon’s bosses. As they journey, they slowly uncover the Dark Lord’s plans to plunge the world into chaos.

Ragnarok the Animation Characters:

Roan (ragnarok The Animation) – Roan is a swordsman whose goal is to protect Yufa and become stronger. Roan fails in this and leaves the party to become stronger. He returns to Yufa and the rest of his party as a Crusader.

Yuufa – Yuufa is the cleric (the healer) of the party and Roan’s childhood friend. She lost her brother when she, Roan and a her party were adventuring in Glast Heim.

Takius – Takius is a mage who wears a blinder to enhance her abilities. Her ultimate goal is to find the “ultimate truth”. She joins Roan and Yufa’s party and later becomes a Sage. She is also the student of the wizard, Zephyr.

Maaya – Maaya meets Roan and Yufa when they were adventuring in the sewers. At first, she only uses Roan and Yufa to loot items in the dungeon as well as sell them what they need but later becomes a useful member in the party.

Dark Lord – The Dark Lord is the manifestation of all the evil in Rune-Midgard. He seeks to create chaos in all the lands by collecting each jewel which represents different desires.

Zephyr – Zephyr is a powerful wizard and mentor of Takius. He is being used by the Dark Lord to do his bidding. He’s the only person who has an aura which, according to him, represents ultimate power.
