Ragnarok Online is a Korean MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role-playing game) made by GRAVITY Co., Ltd derived from Lee Myung Jin’s Rangarok manhwa series. The game debuted on August 31, 2002 in South Korea for Windows and has been localized all over the world. A sequel was made called Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second which did not do so well as the original Ragnarok. Ragnarok Online is considered to be both casual and a hardcore game which rewards Player vs Player, Player vs Environment and Guild versus Guild.

Plot:

Gods, demons and man were in an ancient war that almost destroyed Rune Midgard. To avoid total annihilation of the land, the three entered a truce which would last 1000 years.

Humans are quick to forget because of their short life spans so their history of war and hardship was forgotten and their mistakes resurfaced. The greed, ignorance, corruption and arrogance spread across all of Rune Midgard. The 1000 years truce was now over as the balance was no more. The boundaries of Demons, humans and God were again divided. Once peaceful creatures started attacking villagers, the earth shook and ripped apart entire continents and violent storms wiped out entire species.

As the 1000 years of peace fell apart, rumors of the parts of Ymir circulated amongst adventurers. Ymir is an ancient relic which is said to be able to protect the peace. Adventurers spread out all over Rune Midgard looking for these pieces for wealth, selfish reasons and fame that come with recovering it.

Ragnarok Online Classes:

Swordsman (Ragnarok Online) – Swordsmen brave warriors who hone their skills with armors, swords and spears. They make use of their powerful defense, attacks and natural leadership. A novice can become a Swordsman once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the swordsman test at Izlude. They can become a Knight (Ragnarok Online) (2-1) or a Crusader (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, a Lord Knight (Ragnarok Online (Transcendent 2-1) or a Paladin (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and a Rune Knight (3-1) or a Royal Guard (3-2) as a third class.

Mage – Mages are masters of elemental magic who master their craft after intense training and discipline. Mages possess superior intelligence to overwhelm their enemies and analyze their enemies’ weakness. A novice can become a Mage once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the mage test at Geffen. They can become a Wizard (Ragnarok Online) (2-1) or a Sage (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, a High Wizard (Transcendent 2-1) or a Scholar (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and a Warlock (Ragnarok Online) (3-1) or a Sorcerer (Ragnarok Online) (3-2) as a third class.

Archer – Archers are masters of the bow and arrow and have godlike accuracy. They aim for weak points from a distance as well as use specialized arrows to take advantage of elemental weaknesses. A novice can become an Archer once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the archer test in Payon. They can become a Hunter (Ragnarok Online) (2-1) or a Bard (Ragnarok Online)/Dancer (Ragnarok Online) (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, a Sniper (Ragnarok Online) (Transcendent 2-1) or a Minstrel/Gypsy (Ragnarok Online) (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and a Ranger (Ragnarok Online) (3-1) or Maestro/Wanderer (Ragnarok Online) (3-2) as a third class.

Merchant – Merchants usually come from wealthy families who are masters of the trade. Life is nothing more than a tool to make more money. With their superior knowledge of the market, they can get great deals as well as use their Zenny to slay opponents. A novice can become a Merchant once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the merchant swordsman test in Payon. They can become a Blacksmith (Ragnarok Online) (2-1) or Alchemist (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, a Master Smith (Transcendent 2-1) or a Biochemist (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and a Mechanic (Ragnarok Online) (3-1) or a Geneticist (3-2) as a third class.

Thief (Ragnarok Online) – Thieves are orphans who grew up making a living from stealing. They are not strong nor can they take a beating but make use of their sleight of hand, agility and stealth to dispose of targets. A novice can become a Thief once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the thief test at Morroc. They can become an Assassin (Ragnarok Online) (2-1) or a Rogue (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, an Assassin Cross (Transcendent 2-1) or a Stalker (Ragnarok Online) (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and Guillotine Cross (3-1) or a Shadow Chaser (3-2) as a third class.

Acolyte – Acolytes live to serve the Church. They go on adventures to deal with enemies without using lethal weapons, healing the wounded and blessing their allies with prayers. A novice can become a n Acolyte once they’ve reached job level 10 and take the acolyte test at Prontera. They can become a Priest (Rangarok Online/Priestess (2-1) or a Monk (Ragnarok Online) (2-2) when they reach job level 40 or above, a High Priest/High Priestess (Transcendent 2-1) or a Champion (Transcendent 2-2) when they transcend after base level 99 and an Archbishop (3-1) or a Sura (3-2) as a third class.
