Pokémon

The new opening for Pokémon Sun & Moon:

Pokémon first came out as media franchise by Japanese video game company, Nintendo, created by none other than the brilliant Satoshi Tajiri back in 1996.
It was originally released as a Game Boy role-playing video game. Pokémon has now become the second most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise in the entire world.
Since its booming popularity, Pokémon has been merchandised into an anime, manga, trading cards, toys, books and many other media formats.
The anime adaptation of Pokémon was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama together with the people from OLM, Inc. Ever since its debut last 1997, it didn’t take long for 4Kids Entertainment and The Pokémon Company to license the show for a North American release.
The anime still continues today with 850 episodes released thus far making it one of the longest running anime in history.

PLOT:

The world is overrun by mysterious wild creatures of various forms. With the advancement of technology, humans can capture these so-called monsters using a specially designed, mass producible spherical tool called the PokeBall and train them to fight for them.
Since these monsters are inside the PokeBall, they are later known to be Pokémon, Pocket Monsters for short. The world has entered into the Great Pokémon Age.
Once a year, a tournament is held where trainers from across the world gather and battle their Pokémons to see who has the strongest Pokémon. The winner of the said tournament is awarded the title as Pokémon Master.
Growing up, Ash Ketchum has always dreamed of becoming a Pokémon Master. Ash embarks on a journey into becoming the next Pokémon Master together with his very first Pokémon, Pikachu, an electric Pokémon.
In order to participate for the tournament, Ash must first collect the necessary badges, acquired from defeating Pokémon Gym Masters across the region, in order to qualify.
At first, Pikachu seems cold and distrusting over Ash trying to zap him with his electric powers every chance he gets. Ash eventually wins Pikachu over to his side and the two has been inseparable ever since.
Ash and Pikachu are later joined by Brock, a girl-obsessed Rock Pokémon trainer who dreams of becoming the World’s Best Breeder, and Misty, a tomboyish Water Pokémon trainer who dreams of becoming a Water Pokémon Master.
Together, Ash, Pikachu, Misty and Brock embark on the long and arduous journey to achieving their dreams travelling from region to region.
Along the way, the team runs into Jesse, James and Meowth, a trio of Pokémon thieves who belong to an evil underground organization called “Team Rocket”. Now it fails into Ash and the gang to stop Team Rocket and their evil mastermind plans.

CHARACTERS:

Ash Ketchum is the nomadic protagonist of Pokemon. As a ten-year old Pokemon trainer, he aspires to become the world’s greatest Pokemon trainer. He has travelled to different regions all trying to collect badges in several Pokemon Gyms in hopes of competing in the Pokemon League. Overall, he has collected enough badges from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and even Unova regions.

Pikachu is Ash’s very first Pokemon and may very well be the one who has forged the strongest bond with. Initially, Pikachu largely ignores Ash’s requests or even Ash for that matter. He would try to shock him if given the chance. It wasn’t till he saw Ash trying to save him from a wild flock of Spearows did he start to warm up to Ash and eventually became the best of buds since then. Pikachu is a thunder pokemon who would use a variety of thunder-based attacks. Pikachu would evolve into a Raichu if given the right circumstances.

UPDATE:

Pokemon has been one of the biggest franchises in history whether you’re a game fanatic or anime aficionado. It has been warmly welcomed by the audience of all ages, especially big fans of the game.
The anime alone has a whooping 850+ episodes. There have been a number of movies released thus far in its name coming to a total of 19 movies.
Pokemon also has 8 TV specials, 25 side-story episodes, 7 winter vacation short episodes and 8 ANA flights shorts.

Other quite similar to Pokemon would definitely include Digimon, Monster Rancher, Magi Nation, Meda Bots and Bakugan Battle Brawlers all of which are anime shows where they can summon monsters to battle for them.
