Ar Tonelico is a series of RPG’s created by Banpresto and Gust Corporation. Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia was directed by Akira Tsuchiya featuring the artwork of Megumi Maruta, Yuuko Tsujida and Aki Takahashi and was written by Akira Tsuchiya, Teruo Akaike and Kei Tanaka. The Japanese release was on January 26, 2006 for the PlayStation 2. Artonelico II: Melody of Metafalica was the second game in the series and was released for the Playstation 2 on October 25, 2007 and takes place a year and a half after the first game’s ending. The third release was Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel was directed by Akira Tsuchiya and Akatsuki Tsuchiya and was released for the PlayStation 3 on January 28, 2010. There have been related media releases such as OVA’s and mangas.
Ar Tonelico Plot:
The Ar Tonelico world is set in the planet of Ar Ciel which was severely damaged during a man-made catastrophe many generations ago resulting in a landless planet. It usually involves the interactions between the game’s protagonist and the Reyvateil who have the power of the Song Magic. In all of the games, people sheltered in gigantic structures and believed that these structures were the only world that exists.
Ar Tonelico Characters:
Lyner Barsett – Lyner is the son of Platina’s governor. He joins the Knights of Elemia as a soldier to protect his city and serve Shurelia. Even if he does hold a high ranking position, he is still young and can be quite impulsive and rebellious.
Shurelia – Shurelia is the very first Reyvateil in Ar Ciel who was named after his adoptive father’s real daughter after she died during a war. She is the First Tower’s Administrator and head of the Knights of Eleia.
Aurica Nestmile – Aurica is the daughter of a human and a Reyvateil and comes from the quaint village of Wings of Horus. She isn’t a powerful Reyvateil and usually hides behind her Mind Guardian. who is also a stuffed bear. she calls Don Leon.
