Aquarian EVOL (Japanese:アクエリオン) is a Japanese anime television series with themes of mecha, romance and science fiction.
Aquarian EVOL is a collaborated production of Satelight and 8bit Studios and directed by Shoji Kawamori, the man who was pivotal in the Macross series, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star.
Aquarian EVOL premiered on TV Tokyo last January 2012.
Aquarian EVOL ended with 26 action-packed episodes on June 2012.
PLOT:
Aquarian EVOL is set twelve thousand years after the events of the original Genesis of Aquarion.
Mankind has enjoyed years of peace living their lives on the planet Vega until the day they are threatened by a new enemy from Altair.
Altair has suffered from a mysterious disease called the Curse of Eve which wiped out their entire female population.
Determined to preserve their entire race from extinction, these Altean invaders later known as “Abductors” invade Vega and kidnap its female inhabitants.
The Neo-DEAVA, two elite team of pilots, one male and the other female each using giant machines called the “Aquaria”, sortie to defend its people from the imminent threat.
To protect his new friend Mikono, Amata Sora taps into his latent abilities and unseals the “guize” stones (which blocks the unholy union between opposite genders) and combines vectors into one single robot, the legendary giant Aquarion.
CHARACTERS:
Amata Sora is the young male protagonist whose element power is “Anti-Gravity”. He wears a special kind of boots with weights on it since he is still unable to freely control his power. He has had a rough childhood growing up with strange powers. He broke the seal in Aquaria that prevented the union between male and female pilot to form the Aquarian Evol. He bears the “Solar Wings” just like Apollonius and Apollo before him.
Mikono Suzushiro is the female protagonist who comes from a long line of Element users. Unlike the rest of her family, Mikono feels left out having no Element Powers which led to her low self-esteem issues. She later discovers that she inherited a unique kind of power, the Power to Connect, which links together the minds and feelings of others. She later became the pivotal pilot in Neo-DEAVA.
Zessica Wong is the clingy female student who very much spends most of her time teasing Amata. She eventually falls in love with him. Her element power is the Power of Distortion which utilizes her telekinetic powers in battle.
