Awwww poor Philippines and Mexico
Why Spain...WHY!? ªAª -
The Philippines helped Mexico fight for their independence. Mexico did win its freedom but as a result, Spain cut off all of the Philippines' connection with Mexico including the galleon trade.
... or something like that. orz I'm not too sure. -
I heard that Mexico tried to help us gain our independence, however, we refused (I couldn't find the proper word, sorry. T^T) their help. So they decided to wait until the Philippines has gained their independence so that the two can once more regain their ties with one another.
But that's what I heard... or something along those lines...
On the other hand...
OMG! Someone finally uploaded this beautiful art of vivalixi's from LJ! *_* My favorite one~! <333 -

Actually Mexico is in charge of philippines, All the taxes and wealth is handled by mexico. the people who handled philippines were corrupt some groups like la solidaridad wanted to expose this to the spanish government (there are speculations that mexico's funds that were used against spain in the revolt were from the philippines. eventually spain found this out but it was already too late. spain sunk in to debt from american spanish war and when they lost spain was forced to sell philippines for a mere 1 million dollars. the treaty is the base in which why the philippines didn't gained control over sabah/borneo which in pre-colonial times sabah/borneo was given to the datu of the philippines as a gift for defeating the tyrant of malaya. i kinda like piri-tans story if they ever create her officially she should be a quiet girl who do whatever spain and mexico tells her to do.
