Psycho-Pass (Japanese: サイコパス)is a Japanese anime television series produced by Production I.G. with Koji Yamamoto, George Wada, Kenji Tobori and Wakana Okumura.
Psycho-Pass is directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro and Naoyoshi Shiotani and written by none other than Gen Urobuchi.
Psycho-Pass is a clad mixture of crime, mystery, cyberpunk and dystopian.
Psycho-Pass premiered on Fuji TV way back on October 2012.
Psycho-Pass ended with 22 jaw-dropping enigmatic episodes on March 2013.
"Psycho-Pass takes place in the near future to a time when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person’s state of mind and personality.
Each person is processed to measure their “Psycho-Pass”, the standard used to measure a person’s individual being, be it their emotions, desires and even their every inclination.
This way, it is almost possible to detect and measure a person’s criminal tendency factor (otherwise known as their crime coefficient) which is later used by enforcers to judge criminals.
When a person’s crime coefficient exceeds beyond the standard, he or she is pursued by enforcers to ensure the public’s safety.
Akane Tsunemori is the newest inspector of the Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division.
Her job is to hunt down and apprehend the criminals alongside a special team of so-called latent criminals called the “Enforcers”.
Both inspectors and enforcers are equipped with specialized handguns called the Dominators which are designed to fire only at those with a rather higher-than-acceptable crime coefficient.
Thrust into a world of crime, Akane and her partner, Shinya Kogami, is tasked with managing crime, keeping the justice and maintaining order. "
Psycho-Pass is one of the few anime television series wherein its manga adaptation shortly came after its anime television series.
Usually, it’s the other way around.
Hikaru Miyoshi worked on the manga adaptation entitled “Inspector Akane Tsunemori” which started publishing since November 2012.
On the other hand, Midori Gotou worked on the sequel of the manga adaptation and he entitled it “Inspector Shinya Kogami.
It started publication in the Monthly Comic Blade on June 2014. Tatsunoko Production has leaked to the public that they are working on a sequel of the original series together with Naoyoshi Shiotani and Kiyotaka Suzuki as the series director.
Psycho-Pass 2 started broadcasting on October 2014 and was scheduled for 11 awe-inspiring action-packed episodes.
