Zero no Tsukaima – The Familiar Of Zero – _Images

Zero no Tsukaima is a light novel series illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka and written by Noboru Yamaguchi. It was published by Media Factory starting June 2004 and ended on February 2011. The series was not completed due to the author’s death on April 4th, 2013. A manga adaptation was illustrated by Nana Mochizuki and published on Monthly Comic Alive starting August 2006 and ending October 2009. The anime adaptation was produced by J.C Staff starting in 2006 and ended in 2012.

Zero no Tsukaima Plot:

Zero no Tsukaima revolves around a noble named Louise enrolled in Tristain Academy of Magic. Louise has the nickname “Zero” because she is unable to control any of the four elements all the other nobles can wield. During their second year, students are required to perform a summoning ritual to summon a familiar. Familiars are usually creatures representing their master’s elements that act as their protectors. Louise appears to stay true to her title “Zero” by summoning Saito, a teenage boy from Japan. Embarrassed, Louise accepts her familiar by kissing him then quickly treats him like a slave such as doing her laundry, sleeping on the floor, whipping him for his mistakes, as well as blasting him with her magic. It is soon revealed that Saito is a special kind of familiar called “Gandalfr” who is considered the strongest class of familiar whose duty is to protect the new void mage, Louise. The reason he has to be so strong is because Gandalfr is supposed to protect the powerful mage of the void (the powerful fifth element) and that void magic takes a long time to cast. In this other world there are also other instances where modern objects appear in the magical world such as bazookas, fighter planes, porn magazines and even other people like Saito.

Zero no Tsukaima Characters:

Louise Françoise de La Baume Le Blanc de La Vallière – Louise is a noble and a second year student of Tristain Academy of Magic. She is nicknamed “Zero” because she has failed in all attempts to manipulate any of the four elements. During the familiar summoning ceremony, she summons, what appears to be, a normal teenage boy from Japan. It is later discovered that she is a rare void mage and that the familiar she summoned was the legendary Gandalfr.

Hiraga Saito – Saito is a normal teenage boy who was accidently summoned by Louise to be her familiar. He is treated as a slave doing her laundry, sleeping on the floor and even being whipped. It is later revealed that he is the legendary Gandalfr. He also wields a magical talking sword that, coincidently, was the sword of the previous Gandalfr.
