General Information

YuruYuri (lit. translation “Easygoing Yuri”) is a Japanese manga series both written and illustrated by Namori.
YuruYuri falls under the themes of comedy, slice of life and yuri.
YuruYuri started serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime.
As of June 2008, YuruYuri has published 12 tankobon volumes which still continues as of today. An anime adaptation written by Takashi Aoshima and developed by Dogakobo Studios together with Masahiko Ohta was made later that year.
YuruYuri is licensed for a North American releaseby NIS America.
YuruYuri started broadcasting on July 2011 on AT-X, TV Tokyo and TV Aichi.
YuruYuri ended with 12 light-hearted episodes on September 2011.

Dogakobo Studios together with Masahiko Ohta has been working on a second season of YuruYuri.
The second season of YuruYuri is scheduled to release on July 2012.
The second season of YuruYuri was scheduled for 12 cheery episodes which shortly ended on September 2012.
YuruYuri also gave birth to several manga spin-off series entitled Reset and Ohmuroke accordingly.
Hiroyuki Hata directed the OVA (origina video animation) together with TYO Animations which got released last November 2014.

Plot:
"Set at the fictitious Nanamori Middle School in Takaoka, Toyama, YuruYuri follows Akari Akaze and the members of the Amusement Club as they go through with their daily lives filled with laughter, tears and joy.
After starting middle school, Akari decides to form the Amusement Club together with her two closest childhood friends, Kyouko Toshino and Yui Funami.
They are later joined by Chinatsu Yoshikawa, Akari’s classmate, who becomes a member of the Amusement Club after finding out that the former Tea Club disbanded.
The Amusement Club is unusually situated at the tea room facility since the Tea Club already disbanded.
At the moment, the Amusement Club has no clear purpose or goals to which they devote their time to leaving them free to do whatever they want, whenever they want.
Mayhem and destruction follows the Amusement Club together with its rather unique characters as they go with the flow, going wherever fun leads them. "

Anime shows I’d recommend that are quite similar to YuruYuri in both content, theme and even art style would include Hidamari Sketch, Minami-Ke, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, A-Channel and Kill Me Baby are just a few of the shows in the genre.
