General Information

Trigun is a manga created and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow. It was published on 19996 in Shonen Captain and discontinued in 1997. It was then published in Young King Ours as Trigun Maximum and ended in 2008. An anime adaptation aired on April 1, 1998 and ended on September 30, 1998 on TV Tokyo.

Plot:

Trigun is about two women, Meryll and Milley, who work for the Bernardelli Insurance Society. They follow a string of destruction and insurance claims allegedly caused by the des Vash the Stampede. Unknowingly to them, the destruction was caused by bounty hunters seeking to kill Vash for a prize of sixty billion double dollars put on him after July city’s destruction. Vash doesn’t remember what happened as he can only remember fragments of the incident. Contrary to his reputation, Vash travels from town to town saving lives using non-lethal methods. As the series progresses, Vash’s story and humanity’s history on planet Gunsmoke slowly unfolds. Wolfwood is a priest who is also a competent gunslinger. He happens to know a lot about Vash and what Vash is going through.

Characters:

Vash the Stampede – Vash is a skilled gunslinger who tries to spread peace and love. He seems carefree and avoids seriousness but actually uses that as a mask to hide his serious and deep side. Wolfwood calls his smile a “false smile” because he knows that behind his smile is sorrow and pain. Vash has a 60 billion double dollar bounty placed on him by the government for the destruction of July city.

Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson – Meryl and Milly are agents of the Bernardelli Insurance Company who investigate the insurance claims caused by the Humanoid Typhoon, Vash the Stampede. At first they don’t believe the claims but soon discover that Vash is indeed the person they were looking for.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood – Wolfwood is a priest who carries a big cross with him to remind him of his past mistakes. Inside the cross is a machine gun, rocket launcher and handguns which he uses to defend himself and others with his amazing skills with guns.

Rem Saverem – Rem is Vash’s childhood friend and life coach. Because of Rem, Vash is a hero. When faced with difficult decisions, Vash asks himself what Rem would do. When he asks himself about Rem, Vash enters an almost dream-like state.
