General Information:

Tales of the Abyss (Japanese: テイルズ オブ ジ アビス) is a Japanese role-playing video game created by Namco Tales Studio.
It was originally released for the PlayStation 2 as the eight main title in the widely popular Tales series.


Tales of the Abyss was later adapted for an anime television series produced by Sunrise Studios and directed by Kenji Kodama, more known as the man who brought us City Hunter, Detective Conan and Kekkaishi.
Tales of the Abyss was licensed by Funimation Entertainment for an English release.
Tales of the Abyss debuted on Tokyo MX, MBS, CBC and BS11 on October 2008 and ended with 26 action-packed episodes on March 2009.

Plot:

Luke Fon Fabre is the young scion of House Fabre, a noble house in the Kingdom of Kimlasca.
Seven years previously, he was kidnapped by persons unknown and developed complete retrograde amnesia, even having to re-learn basic skills like how to walk.
Since then, he has been forbidden to leave the walls of his manor until he comes of age. He spends his days learning swordsmanship from his mentor Van Grants- the Commandant of the Oracle Knights, the military branch of the Order of Lorelei- hanging out with his manservant and best friend Guy Cecil, and being harassed by his childhood friend Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, the princess of Kimlasca with whom he has made a forgotten marriage proposal.


Luke's life is torn asunder when a mysterious fonist called Tear Grants infiltrates his manor and attempts to assassinate Van.
While defending his master, a strange power resonates between Luke and Tear, teleporting them halfway across the world...
