Soul Calibur – _Images

Soul Calibur is a game series produced by Namco and developed by Project Soul. The original game started as Soul Edge which was released in 1996. Soul Calibur was originally released in 1998 for arcades then a Dreamcast port was released in 1999.

Soul Calibur Plot:

The legendary mystical sword, Soul Edge, is in Spain in the hands of Cervantes de Leon. He took the souls of those who would reach him during the search for the sword. Luckily, Sophitia Alexandra and Taki stopped his supposed reign of terror and killed him but shattering one of the twin Soul Edge blades. Before the blade shattered, Siegfried Schtauffen battled the temporarily reanimated Cervantes. Victorious, Siegfried took hold of Soul Edge’s hilt and released a beam of light into the sky.

Three years later, Siegfried is Soul Edge’s new host and he is now considered “Nightmare”. Massacre after Massacre is done to fuel Soul Edge’s hunger for souls to recover since its weakened state. A group of Warriors band together to stop Soul Edge and Nightmare’s reign by wielding three sacred weapons.

Soul Calibur Characters:

[Isabella Valentine] – Ivy was adopted by the wealthy House of Valentine when she was abandoned in front of their mansion as a child. Her foster father, Ear Valentine, drained the Valentine family’s fortune searching for the “Key to Eternal Youth”. When her father died, she found his diary that stated that the Key to Eternal Youth was a sword called “Soul Edge”. In a fit of rage, she made it her goal to destroy the Soul Edge for driving his father mad.

[Taki] – Taki was an orphan who was raised by a ninja master, Toki. She grew up to become an excellent ninja. She travelled the lands to slay demons who threatened the general populace. Her foster father’s sword, Mekki-Maru, drove her father mad when it was stolen and ordered the ninja clan to kill anyone who held it. Taki heard of the Soul Edge and concluded that it was the source of the evil and made it her goal to destroy it.

[Nightmare (Soul Calibur)] – Nightmare is the incarnation of Soul Edge. Nightmare came to be when Siegfried was consumed by Soul Edge whose bodily features have been corrupted and mutated by the power of the sword.

[Sophitia Alexandra] – Sophitia is an Athenian and the daughter of a Greek baker. One day when she was bathing in a forest spring, Hephaestus (god of fire and forge) told her of the Soul Edge and its evils. Hephaestus wanted it destroyed because it would shame him even though he did not make it. He gave Sophitia the holy Omega Sword and she ventured forth to destroy it.

[Siegfried Schtauffen] – Siegfried is the son of the Margaret and the German knight, Frederick. Frederick went on a foreign crusade leaving Siegfried to mesh with the wrong people. He eventually became the leader of the Schwarwind. In one of their missions, they made it a plan to kill the knights who fled the crusades. When they attacked, Siegfried was able to behead their commander but to his horror, discovered it was his father’s head. He eventually convinced himself that someone else had killed his father and that the killer could only be killed with the legendary Soul Edge.
