Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the more popular video game franchise developed and owned by Sega.
Yuji Naka gave life to the titular Sonic the Hedgehog.
It first started as a side-scrolling platform game which later expanded into numerous other genres including action-adventure, fighting, racing, role-playing and even sports.
Due to popular demand, DiC Animation City developed the animated adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog.
The story is edited by Len Janson and directed by Dick Sebast.
Sonic the Hedgehog was made with the partnership of Sega America, Inc.
Sonic the Hedgehog aired on ABC since September 1993. Sonic the Hedgehog had 2 seasons with 26 episodes.

PLOT:

Sonic the Hedgehog is set on the fictitious planet called Mobius.
Dr. Robotnik, a notorious warlord and a former scientist, invades Mobotropolis together with his trusted lackey/assistant/nephew and an army or robot soldiers called the SWATbots.
Back when he was still the leader of the Mobotropolis War Ministry, he created the SWATbots which led to the country’s victory in the “Great War”.
It wasn’t long after did Dr. Robotnik want power that he decided to overthrow the kingdom and declared himself the new king.
Robotnik captured all of its citizens including a remarkably intelligent old hedgehog, Sir Charles Hedgehog, who also happens to be Sonic’s uncle.
One of his more successful invention, the Roboticizer, has the uncanny power to change living creatures into robots with the unintended effect of robbing the individual of their free will.
With the power of the Roboticizer, Dr. Robotnik enslaves the entire Mobius population.
A few citizens managed to escape the clutches of Dr. Robotnik and his SWATbots and fled to Knothole Village in the Great Forest in hopes of escaping Dr. Robotnik’s army.
Under the courageous leadership of Princess Sally, they managed to form a rebel group called the Freedom Fighters in hopes to restoring Mobius and end Robotnik’s rule.



CHARACTERS:

Sonic the Hedgehog is the courageous and cunnin hero of the Freedom Fighters. He is a capable fighter and is able to run at supersonic speeds. He is portrayed to be selfless and helps those in need every chance he gets which would explain why he keeps finding himself in precarious and dangerous situations. He is able to use the Power Rings to activate his impeccable speed.


Tails is youngest member of the Freedom Fighters who looks up to Sonic like a brother. Being the youngest, Tails is oftentimes left behind in Knothole Village. He is shown to be remarkably bright who thinks out of the box.


Bunnie Rabbot is the friendly cyborg rabbit with the southern accent. She was captured and managed to escape at the nick of time. Unfortunately for her, part of her has already transformed into parts of a
robot including her right arm and both of her legs. She is definitely a skilled fighter as a master of martial arts. She is clearly the “brawns” of the Freedom Fighters.


Rotor is walrus mechanic of the Freedom Fighters. He is fond of making inventions most of which are reliable gadgets the Freedom Fighters use in their missions. He accompanies the crew in their missions and supports the team from the back.


Antoine Depardieu is the cowardly, pompous and clumsy coyote of the Freedom Fighters. He oftentimes has trouble speaking English. His clumsiness has oftentimes led the group into trouble.He can be rather inelligent although he can come off as rather too arrogant and fearful.


Sally Alicia Acorn is the princess of Planet Mobius. She acts as the team’s strategist and leader of the Freedom Fighters. She hacks Robotnik’s computer trying to figure out and get a lead on his evil dastardly plans. She is intelligent, cautious, a self-righteous to a fault. She is Sonic’s love interest.


Anime shows that are quite similar to Sonic the Hedgehog are Doraemon, Mojako and Keroro Gunso.
