The Sleeping Beauty The Ninth Captain's Tale (1001 Nights) (French: La Belle au bois dormant, "The Beauty sleeping in the wood") by Charles Perrault or Little Briar Rose (German: Dornröschen) by the Brothers Grimm is a classic fairytale involving a beautiful princess, enchantment of sleep, and a handsome prince. Written as an original literary tale, it was first published by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697. But the earliest found version in by Giambattista Basile, writing the book Il Pentamerone (the Tale of Tales) in 1634. The 'Sleeping Beauty' tale is called Sun, Moon, and Talia.
In later versions she is found by a Prince and he instead kisses her (hand or mouth, depending in the version) to wake her, in Charles Perrault's version the story continues, when war breaks out in the kingdom.
