Slayers – _Images

Slayers (スレイヤーズ- Sureiyāzu) is a Japanese comedy fantasy themed media franchised which started as a light novel that was originally serialized in Dragon Magazine in the year 1989 as a light novel series written by Hajime Kanzaka while the artwork was illustrated by Rui Araizumi. A manga adaptation was later made in the year 1995 and illustrated by Rui Araizumi and was known as Slayers Medieval Mayhem. At that same year, an anime adaptation directed by Takahashi Watanabe and written by Jiro Takayama and produced by J.C. Staff aired its first season’s first episode on April 4th, 1997 until September 26th, 1997 having a total of 26 episodes. Due to its popularity, various media franchise, the title spawned countless light novels and manga adaptations and seasons.

Plot:
[Lina Inverse] is known as one of the most powerful and feared sorceress in the land. This is due to her extreme high magic capacity and at the same time, her potential to cause so much collateral damage in every town she visits and ends up fighting evil. In fact, she is infamous for hunting bandits and at the same time stealing money from them for her own personal gain and or spends them to have a gluttonous meal. She is known far and wide through a lot of nicknames such as Bandit Killer, and the Enemy of All Who Lives.

Throughout the series Lina Inverse meets allies such as [Gourry Gabriev], the skilled but dumb swordsman and many more. At the same time, she often finds herself being pursued by different factions for various reasons and usually ends up causing trouble to the places wherever she goes to.

Characters:
[Lina Inverse] (リナ・インバース- Rina Inbāsu)- is the main female protagonist of the story. She is 15 years old and although she is still young, she is a very powerful sorceress and can be very gluttonous and greedy. In addition, she is quick to anger and tend to use overly powerful spells often with little provocation thus causing destruction in her wake hence earning her the name “The enemy of all who lives”

[Gourry Gabriev] (ガウリイ・ガブリエフ Gaurī Gaburiefu) – Is the main male protagonist of the story. He travels with Lina after the first episode and is a very skilled swordsman to the point that his swordsmanship is unmatched throughout the series. Despite this, he is not that smart and academically lacking. In addition to being a skilled swordsman, Gourry has keen senses and often sense if there is something amiss before the others even notice anything.

Similar Series:
Slayers is one of the first Japanese anime series which had fantasy as its main theme and that has a wide array of characters. It can be compared to [Record of Lodoss Wars] minus the comedy theme of the series
