General Information:

Shuffle! (Japanese: シャッフル!) is a series of Japanese visual novels developed by Navel Studios.
It was originally developed as an adult PC game. A PlayStation2 version was later released that year including a number of several transitions to other media.
Shuffle! has themes around drama, fantasy, harem and romantic comedy.
The manga adaptation entitled Shuffle! Days in the Bloom started serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comptiq magazine back in December 2003.
Shuffle! was illustrated by Shiroi Kusaka and as of December 2006, six volumes of Shuffle! have been published thus far.


Meanwhile, the anime adaptation of Shuffle! was directed by Naoto Hosoda and produced by Asread Studios.
It wasn’t long after its debut back in July 2005 on the WOWOW network that Funimation Studios decided to license the show.
Shuffle! ended on January 2006 with 24 drama-filled light-hearted episodes.

Plot:

Shuffle! is set in a fictional universe where humans live are forced to coexist with gods and demons after the gateway to Shinkai (realm of the gods) and Makai (realm of the demons) were irreversibly opened.
The humans now live in harmony with the demons and gods and nothing has ever been the same since.


Tsuchimi Rin is your average 17 year-old high school student attending Verbana Academy and spends his days peacefully with his oldest childhood friend, Kaede.
One day, the King of the Gods and the King of Demons move in Rin’s neighborhood.
Turns out, Sia (daughter of the King of the gods) and Nerine (daughter of the King of the demons) share a past with Rin.
Both have fallen in love with him after having met him in the past and has decided to live with him.
With these three girls vying for his affections, Rin finds himself in a life filled with despair, jealousy, drama and love.


Characters:

Rin Tsuchimi is the 17-year old high school student of Verdana Academy. Rin’s biggest virtue is his kindness which becomes both his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.


Kaede Fuyou is Rin’s oldest childhood friend who grew up with him in the same house after her mother and Rin’s parents died. She is very down-to-earth, modest and soft-spoken.


Lisianthus or Sia for short is the daughter of the King of the Gods. She is overly energetic and very optimistic. Athough not good when it comes to studying or with magic, she is an excellent cook.


Nerine is the daughter of the King of the Demons and just like Sia, she also fell in love with Rin when she met her in the past and played with her for a day when she got lost while accompanying his father on a diplomatic business trip.

Update:

A sequel to the original series was produced by Asread Studios entitled Shuffle! Memories.
Shuffle! Memories was scheduled for 12 episodes which premiered on several Japanese TV networks on January 2007.
A seven-volume light novel adaptation by Seishi Ogata was published by Kadokawa Shoten on June 2004.
