Seto no Hanayome – _Images

Seto no Hanayome is a manga series created by Tahiko Kimura and was published in Monthly Gangan Wing and Monthly Gangan Joker by Square Enix starting September 2002 and ended December 2010. An anime adaptation was created by Gonzo and AIC studio, directed by Seiji Kishi and aired on TV Tokyo starting April 1, 2007 and ended September 30, 2007. Two OVA’s were also released by Gonzo and AIC studio on November 28, 2008 and January 30, 2009.

Seto no Hanayome Plot

Set no Hanayome’s plot revolves around a young boy, Michishio Nagasumi, who took a summer vacation at Seto Bay and almost drowned. Nagasumi was just about to die when a beautiful mermaid, Sun Seto, saved him. A mermaid law states that if a mermaid reveals their identity to a human, both the mermaid and the human must be killed. To save Sun and Nagasumi’s life, Sun’s family (Who heads a Yakuza group) decides they should marry. The series follows Nagasumi and Sun’s everyday life together and their struggles to get used to their new life.

Seto no Hanayome Characters

Seto Sun – Sun is the daughter of a Yakuza boss, holds high the chivalry of mermaids and is devoted to her husband, Nagasumi. Because of her young age, Sun doesn’t have the full grasp of her form changing back into a mermaid whenever she gets into contact with water. To defend herself, she can sing powerful spells that enhances anyone’s abilities.

Edomae Lunar – Lunar is Sun’s good friend and rival. She used her mermaid songs to become an idol and always wants the spotlight on her. Lunar thought that Sun was bragging about Nagasumi and attempts to make Nagasumi her slave because Nagasumi also saw Lunar in her mermaid form. Lunar eventually decides to live with Sun and Nagasumi until the terms of servant-hood is over.

Michishio Nagasumi – Nagasumi was going to drown when he was saved by Sun, a mermaid. They were forced to marry to protect both their lives. When faced with danger, his hairs spike and Nagasumi acquires super-human abilities giving him amazing speed. He does what he can to protect his wife from her family and slowly adjusts to his new, married life.
