Saint Seiya – _Images

Saint Seiya is a manga created and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was published by Shueisha in Weekly Shonen Jump starting January 1986 and ended January 1991. An anime adaptation was directed by Kozo Morishita and written by Takao Koyama for episodes 1 to 73 and then directed by Kazuhito Kikuchi and written by Yoshiyuki Suga from episode 74 to 114. It was created by Toei Animation and aired starting October 11, 1986 and ended April 1, 1989 on TV Asahi. A 2 volume novel series was made by Tatsuya Hamazaki and published by Jump J Books starting August 23, 2002 and ending December 16, 2002.

Saint Seiya Plot:

Saint Seiya’s story revolves around Seiya, an orphan, who was forced to get the Bronze Cloth of the Pegasus constellation from a Sanctuary in Greece. This cloth was worn by one of Athena’s 88 warriors which are called Saints. When Seiya awakens the power of the Saints, Seiya becomes a Pegasus Saint. He then goes to find his older sister in Japan who disappeared when Seiya went to the Greek sanctuary. Saori Kido makes a deal with Seiya telling him that he will look for Seiya sister if Seiya joins the Galaxian wars to win the most powerful of the Saint cloths, the Sagittarius Gold Cloth.

The Galaxian wars is interrupted by Ikki, the Phoenix Bronze Saint, who wishes to destroy those who forced him to go through training. He steals parts of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth and fights the other Bronze Saints. Ikki is defeated when the Sanctuary’s Pope sends the silver saints to eliminate the bronze saints. The bronze saints fight off the silver saints and learn that Saori is the reincarnation of Athena. The Bronze Saints join Saori on a quest to defeat the Pope. When Saori and the Bronze Saints arrive in the Sanctuary, Saori is injured and the Bronze Saints seek the Pope believing he can heal her. To find the Pope, they must pass through twelve temples and each one is guarded by a Gold Saint.

Saint Seiya Characters:

[Pegasus Seiya] – Seiya is one of Athena’s 88 mythical warriors whose goal is to protect peace and justice on Earth. Seiya wears one of the divine Cloths which represent the Pegasus constellation. He also has superhuman speed and strength which he draws from his guardian constellation.

[Phoenix Ikki] – Ikki dons the Phoenix Bronze Saint Cloth and is Andromeda Shun’s older brother. He initially shows up as the series’ first antagonist but turns into a powerful ally later on. His Phoenix Cloth makes him extremely resistant to being beaten up and is extremely hard to kill.

[Gemini Saga] – Saga is the Gemini constellation’s Gold Saint. He was the first Gold Saint introduced in the Manga but this wasn’t revealed until later on into the series. He stole the identity of the Sanctuary’s Pope by killing him and took control of the Sanctuary.
