Rossiu Adai is an important character of the Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann series. He was a boy from an underground village, Adai, where people worshipped a Gunman’s face as a god. He takes care of Darry and Gimmy even when they grow up. When Team Gurren ends up in Adai, they bring along Rossiu when they return to the surface. Rossiu piloted the Gurren Lagann with Simon against the Beastmen on several occasions.
Rossiu was very faithful to his religion. When the village was forced to exile somebody when they exceeded a population of 50, he did not mind as he believed those people were going to the surface. He considered the surface to be the land of the Gods.
When Simon, Kamina and Yoko crashed into the village, he was not pleased by their lively attitude and rebellious appearance because they were not acting as people should when they come from the surface. When it is revealed to him that the God was a Gunman, he left the village.
Rossiu is a competent pilot but is still learning the ropes. Many times, he knows he can’t do much once Simon takes over Gurren Lagann but he does his best to cover for Simon when he’s exhausted.
When Kamina city was established, Rossiu became second in command and is a great politician. He doesn’t like lazy and ignorant politicians like Simon and the rest of the Dai-Gurren Brigade. He is quick to lose fate when the Anti-Spirals attack.
Rossiu can be very intelligent, almost as much as Leeron. It was his idea to turn Lord Genome into a bio-computer and use his memories to teach them about the Anti-Spirals. Rossiu could no longer take what Simon was doing and overthrew his authority by using Simon as a scapegoat. He did not do this to seek power though as Kinon reveals to Simon that he cried after sentencing Simon to death.
He was quick to try and save humanity by trying to evacuate a fraction of Kamina City’s population into the Arc-Gurren. He, along with many people, was angry over the decision he was forced to make.
When Kamina City was saved from the Human Extermination System, Rossiu felt he could not return to his people and tried to kill himself in Adai. Simon tore a portal in time and space to punch Rossiu and talk some sense into him.
Young Rossiu has dark-brown, long, black hair pulled back into a ponytail with a section of his bangs hangover over the corner of his right eye. His head is large relative to his body which some say, suggests his intelligence. He has thick, brown eyebrows and black eyes. He has a confused or gloomy look on his face when not in battle and it’s clear that he’s not comfortable around other people. The only other expressions he shows are extreme joy and anger.
He wears the religious garment of Adai village. It’s a white cloak with a high collar and two rectangles on his left arm. He also wears loose pale blue pants and calf high brown boots.
Seven years later, Rossiu has the same hairstyle but his facial features are more mature. He has a more serious look on his face and looks more determined and commanding. He doesn’t seem to show much emotion anymore to come across as cold and uncaring. The most he shows is a smirk.
He wears an ankle-length, white cloak that split at the sides. The cloak has a variant of an Epaulette on each shoulder, two stars on his left chest and he wears an aqua-green armband on his left arm. Underneath his cloak, he wears black pants and white shoes with two aqua-green stripes on each foot.
