Okabe Rintarou – Steins;Gate – _Images

Okabe Rintarou is the main protagonist of Steins Gate. He calls himself a mad scientist and is given the name “Okarin” by his childhood friend, Mayuri. He prefers to be named “Huouoin Kyouma” which he uses to introduce himself. He had delusions about an organization working behind the scenes to change the world only to find out his conspiracy theories were spot on.

People’s first impression of Rintarou is usually bad because of his delusional babbling, paranoid behavior, odd habits like talking on the phone when no one is on the other side and his signature mad scientist laugh. He probably uses these to hide his social awkwardness.

Rintarou enjoys making things up for everybody be it names or background stories to explain someone’s motivation. Some of the nicknames he uses that annoys people are “Christina” and “Mr. Braun”. His naming skills aren’t good either mixing up German and English to label phenomena. He likes to end phone conversations with the phrase “El Psy Congroo”.

He claims to be secretive and distant but is actually very likeable and bringing in new “lab members” every time.

Rintarou is a actually a very thoughtful and kind person but only hides it making his “mad scientist” persona as a persona. In the world line where Mayuri is killed, he does everything in his power to reset time to save Mayuri and his friends.

In the visual novel, it’s clear that Rintarou has feelings for Kurisu, Mayuri, Ruka and Faris and they all become his lovers in different endings.

Rintarou doesn’t seem to enjoy eating but only uses it as fuel. The only product he really enjoys is Dr. Pepper as he regards it as a drink for the intelligent.

Rintarou is a thin and rugged young man with a masculine jaw. He has black hair where the long bangs and midsection are swept back and over the short hair on the back. He has thick stubble on his chin.

He wears a simple, grey shirt, a lab coat, brown slacks and green, fuzzy slippers.
