General Information

"Nier ReinCarnation" is set in an area known as "The Cage" consisting of various dungeons. The first main story arc "The Girl and the Monster" follows the story of Fio and Levania who explore "The Cage" in order to learn about their lost memories and relationship.

Individual chapters in the main story serve as introductions to memory characters. They depict mostly tragic snippets of the characters' life like events leading to their death. Event stories follow a similar pattern but can also be more light-hearted.

It is implied that memory characters don't necessarily exist in the same world or era as depicted events would otherwise contradict.

The second main story arc "The Sun and the Moon" follows the story of either Kurezome Yuzuki or Akagi Hina depending on the player's choice.
