General Information

Monogatari is a japanese light novel series written by Nisio Isin.
Since its debut on November 2006, Kodansha has published 18 novels of Monogatari and is still ongoing as of today.
Monogatari falls under the themes of occult-detective, romantic comedy and supernatural.
An anime adaptation of Monogatari was definitely under the works with Akiyuki Shinbo as the head director for the entire show.
Later retitled as “Bakemonogatari”, it was premiered on Independent UHF Stations together with Studio Shaft. Monogatari ran its full course from July 2009 to September 2009 with 12 bone-chilling episodes.
Monogatari was later licensed by Hanabee, Aniplex of America and MVM Films for a North American release.

The Monogatari light novel series received world wide acclaimation and was even ranked sixth in the 2009 issue of Takarajishima’s light novel guide book and later came in second in 2010.
The anime adaptaition of Monogatari has also been warmly received by the public and has won several awards including the “User’s Special Award”.
A number of sequels of Monogatari have been made since then. The 2nd season of the Monogatari series premiered on July 2013 and ended on December 2013 with 26 uplifting episodes.
Hanamonogatari was recently released with 5 episodes which started broadcasting since August 2014.

Plot:
"Due to a number of unfortunate events, Koyomi Hiragi, a third year high school student finds himself human once again after briefly becoming a vampire.
One peculiar day at school, the reclusive Hitagi Senjogahara falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. Much to his surprise, he realizes that Hitagi weighs nothing which defies the very essence of physics.
Despite having been warned and even threatened to keep keep his distance, Koyomi offers his assistance and even introduces her to Meme Oshino, a homeless and strange middle-aged man living in an abandoned building, who apparently helped Koyomi become human once again.
Through the course of the entire series, Koyomi finds himself involved with several other girls, each afflicted by strangely different “oddities”.
He keeps getting mixed up with all kinds of apparitions whether its gods, ghosts, myths and even spirits. Having burdened with his own supernatural problems back in the day as a vampire, Koyomi can empathize with others like him and tries his best to help them in any way he can.
Most of the time, Koyomi seeks the advice of Oshino and later, from Shinobu, the same vampire who turned him who is apparently in the appearance of an eight-year-old girl."

UPDATE:

Other similar titles to Monogatari would definitely include Hanamonogatari as it is a sequel to the original series following the events after the second season of Bakemonogatari. When it comes to the supernatural aspect, you could include Supernatural the Animation, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, Rosario + Vampire are all anime which has a mixture of different supernatural beings.
