La storia della Arcana Famiglia (Japanese:アルカナ・ファミリア lit. The Story of the Arcane Family) is a Japanese visual novel series by HuneX and Comfort.
La storia della Arcana Famiglia was originally developed as an otome game for the PlayStation Portable (PSP).
Due to popular demand, La storia della Arcana Famiglia was later adapted for a manga series written by HuneX and illustrated by Ruru.
La storia della Arcana Famiglia is serialized in ASCII Media Works’ Sylph magazine since December 2011.
La storia della Arcana Famiglia is still an ongoing manga series with its chapters collected and published in two volumes thus far.

Plot:

The trading island of Regalo (Italian for “present”) is home of the all-powerful mafia-esque organization, the Arcana Famiglia.
One of the unique traits of this elite “family” is their mastery and hold of the Arcana, a mystical power derived from tarot cards.
Each member of the family has made a contract with varied tarot cards each giving them unique abilities.
The current leader and head of the family, Mondo, decides it is high time to retire from the business and relinquish his responsibilities over to the new boss, definitely someone who has Arcana powers.
He organizes a tournament between Arcana Users called the Arcana Duello, to determine the rightful successor to the title.
To sweeten the deal, he also promises the winner of the tournament his one and only daughter’s hand in marriage, Felicita.


Refusing to accept the fate that is forced onto her by his father, Felicita decides to fight and participate in the so-called tournament choosing her own path and the right to choose whoever she wants to marry, should she decide to marry.
Fighting by her side for her freedom is two of the family’s youngest members: the impetuous Liberta and the serious-minded Nova.
Together, Liberta, Nova and Felicita train in preparation for the tournament but with Felicita’s ability to read minds, she discovers that she may have asked more than she bargained for with Liberta’s unusually violent past and Nova’s rather troubled family history.
Can the trio find a common ground or will the ever-growing tension between them be too much to bear?


Characters:

Felicita is the one and only daughter of the head of the Arcana Famiglia, Mondo. She bears a contract with the #6 Tarot Card, the Lovers which grants her the ability to read other people’s minds.


Liberta is a member of the Arcana Family and a good friend of Felicita and Nova. He bears the contract of the #0 Tarot Card, the Fool. Not much is known about his powers but when he was young, his memories were sealed away because his Arcana powers went uncontrollable.


Nova is Felicita’s cousin and a good friend of Liberta, that is if they ever find the time to move past their differences. He bears a contract with the #13 Tarot Card, Death which grants him the uncanny ability to put people to sleep.

Update:

A sequel to the visual novel series was published and developed by HuneX and Comfort entitled “Arcana Famiglia: Vascello Phantasma no Majutsushi”.
The otome game was released for the PlayStation Portable on June 2012. On November 2013, “Arcana Famiglia 2” was released for the PlayStation Portable as the third installment of the franchise.
