General Information:

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon (Japanese: 境界線上のホライゾン lit.
Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere) is a Japanese light novel series by Minoru Kawakami.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon is filled with action, adventure, fantasy, science-fiction and even tidbits of romance in between.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon was published by ASCII Media Works in its Dengeki Bunko magazine.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon started serialization since September 2008 and it still continues today as an ongoing series with 16 published volumes.
The manga adaptation of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon was written by Minoru Kawakami and illustrated by Hideo Takenaka.


Sunrise Studios worked with Director Manabu Ono and Tatsuhiko Urahata on the anime television series of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon was licensed by Madman Entertainment, Sentai Filmworks and Manga Entertainment.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon premiered on MBS, CTC, TVS and Tokyo MX on October 2011.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon ended its first season with 13 horrifyingly awesome episodes on December of the same year.

Plot:

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon is set in the far distant future to a time where humans decided to abandon the devastated Earth and travel to outer space for a far better home than they were born into.
Unfortunately for them, a mysterious yet unknown phenomenon prevents them travelling into space and are forced to return to Earth only to find it inhospitable except for Japan.
Several pocket dimensions are created around Japan to accommodate the rest of the human population.
Humans are forced to reenact human history and by the year 1413 of the Testament Era, the several nations of these so-called pocket dimensions invade Japan forcing its original inhabitants to leave Japan in its entirety. Japan has since then been divided into several feudal territories ruled by outside countries.


It is the year 1648 and refugees of Japan now live in the city ship Musashi, drifting into the ocean around Japan.
Rumors of an impending apocalypse and an ensuing war begin to spread the day when the so-called “Testament” stopped revealing what happens after 1648.
Taking advantage of the situation, Tori Aoi, current head of the Musashi Ariadust Academy’s Supreme Federation decides to take action.
With no time to lose, Aoi leads his classmates to use this opportunity to regain back their homeland.
With the fate of the world resting on its hands, the students of Musashi may very hold the key to victory.



Characters:

Tori Aoi is the acting head of the Musashi Ariadust Academy’s Supreme Federation as well as the president of the student council. After gaining himself a reputation, he was later declared as the Viceroy of Musashi along with Horizon. He makes a contract with the Asama Shrine which allows him to channel its limitless power to its allies.


Horizon Ariadust, formerly known as P-01s, is an android employed at a local bakery shop, the Blue Thunder. It was later discovered that she was indeed Tori’s childhood friend back in the day who supposedly died ten years earlier. As the P-01 android, she carries with her the ninth Mortal Sin Armament, the Olos Phthonos.

General Information

Director Manabu Ono and Tatsuhiko Urahata have continued to work with Sunrise Studios for a sequel to the original series.
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Season 2 premiered on several Japanese TV network including TVS and Tokyo MX on July 2012 and ended on September of that year with 13 suspenseful and thrilling episodes.



Plot:

Following the events of the original series, Tori and the rest of the crew manages to free the Japanese prefecture Mikawa from the Testament Union after a successful excursion into Japan at the cost of Horizon being caught in the hands of the enemy.
With rescuing Horizon in mind, the flying-city ship Musashi heads to England for talk about alliances and asking for their help in the upcoming war.
And although the initial talks with the rather reluctant king of England seems promising, the Musashi crew finds itself caught in the crossfire yet again as the Spanish Armada, Tres España prepares itself for war against the British islanders.


Tori and the rest of the crew are torn again in the battlefield in the land ruled by the Fairy Queen.
The horrible reenactment of history as described in the “Testament” continues whilst the secret of the legendary Armor of Deadly Sins is unleashed upon the world.
The students of Ariadust Academy must now use their rather unique abilities to gain allies while simultaneously defending the resurrected heir to the Mikawa throne, Horizon, against various world superpowers that are out to get them.

Update:

Kadokawa Shoten published a role-playing video game for the PlayStation Portable entitled “Kyokaisen-jo no Horizon” which was released on April 2013.
The story will partially be based on its anime counterpart and its novel adaptation.
The game sold over 26,000 copies in its first week of launch.


Any other good anime shows like Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon would include Chrome Shelled Regios, Infinite Stratos, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu and Kyousougiga, are all good shows that may very well be its alternative counterpart.
