Kuroko no Basuke is a Japanese sports manga series written by the rising star Fujimaki Tadatoshi. It was later published by Shueisha, one of the biggest publishers in Japan, in the Weekly Shonen Jump in December of 2008.
Since then, 30 tankobon volumes were released and the manga ended on September 2014. It wasn’t long after its debut in December 2008 that it was serialized under the direction of Shunsuke Tada together with the reliable staff from Production I.G.
It made its debut on April 7, 2012 on several television networks including MBS, Tokyo MX, BS11 and Animax. The series ended with 25 back-breaking episodes on September 2012. Soon after, Production I.G. announced that a second season was in the works which made its way to television networks on October 2013 with 25 episodes as well. Worry not, a third season has been announced and it will be released on 2015.
Plot:
"Back in the day, the basketball team of Teiko Middle School made its way to the top by crushing and demolishing its competition. It wasn’t long after that they rose to distinction holding the title as the unbeatable basketball champions in the entire nation. Each member of the team have strong individual talents to the point where in the regulars where later called as the “Generation of Miracles”.
Since their graduation, these so-called superstars went to play for different high schools with the top basketball teams. Rumor goes that there is actually another player of the infamous “Generation of Miracles”, the phantom sixth member but not much is known about him.
This mysterious player is now a freshman at Seiren High, a new school with a powerful, if little known, team. Now, Tetsuya Kuroko, the rumored phantom sixth member of the Generation of Miracles, has to work together with Kagami Taiga, a naturally gifted basketball player who spent most of his life playing basketball in America.
Now, together, they lead the team to the top of Japan, taking on Kuroko’s former teammates, the Generation of Miracles, one by one."
