General Information

Kore wa Zombie desu ka? (これはゾンビですか? – Is This a Zombie?) and popularly known as これゾン was originally a Japanese light novel series written by Shinichi Kimura, with illustrations by Kobuichi and Muririn. As of the present, there are five different manga adaptation of the light novel that revolves around the universe of Kore wa Zombie desu ka? In addition to these, it also has an anime adaptation having 12-episodes produced by Studio Deen and directed by Takaomi Kanasaki. The anime’s first episode was initially broadcasted on January 11th, 2011 with the last episode being aired on March 30th 2011.

Plot:
"Aikawa Ayumu was once a human who was murdered by a serial killer and was eventually resurrected as a zombie by the necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe. Unlike the conventional zombie as seen in most media, Ayumu Aikawa retains his human intellect and personality however he is near invincible to the point that even if his bones break, they can be re-attached and healed and his body can exceed the limits of a normal human body.

Unfortunately, this does not spare him from experiencing pain and he also tends to weaken when exposed to direct sun light for a very long time. One day, he encounters a Masou Shoujo (魔装少女- Magical Garment Girl, a pun on “Mahou Shoujo” which means “Magical Girl”) named Haruna (Kore Wa) and inadvertently drains away all of her magic powers. Because of this, Aikawa Ayumu is forced to take the responsibility to be the Masou Shoujo and begrudgingly cross-dress since Haruna does not have the magic enough to change into one.

As the series progress, Aikawa Ayumi struggles in living up to his role in defeating demons known as Megalos while at the same time, trying to figure out the mystery behind his death."

Characters:
Aikawa Ayumu (相川 歩 -Aikawa Ayumu)- Ayumu Aikawa is the story’s main male protagonist. He was a regular high school boy until he was murdered by a serial killer. He was then resurrected by the Necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe. Even as a zombie, he was able to retain his human personality and intellect however, he is nearly invincible. Despite being invincible, he is still able to feel pain and cannot remain under the sun for a long period of time. In addition, he does not appear like the conventional zombie and in fact, appears like most humans do.

Eucliwood Hellscythe (ユークリウッド・ヘルサイズ- Yūkuriuddo Herusaizu)- is the female main protagonist of the story. She is often referred to “Yu” by Aikawa and is the necromancer who resurrected Aikawa who now serves as her guardian. She is quiet and does not talk and only communicates with Aikawa through written notes which are mostly related to her appetite.

Similar Series:
The anime has a similar theme to Sankarea which also involves zombies but is of a different approach.
