La Corda d’Oro is an RPG series developed by Koei with character designs by Yuki Kure. A manga adaptation was made by Yuki Kure and was published in LaLa magazine. The anime adaptation aired on TV Tokyo starting October 2006 and ended on March 2007. A two-episode special, La Corda d’Oro: Secondo Passo, aired on March 26, 2009 but ended in a cliffhanger to promote the video game.
La Corda d’Oro Plot:
Seiso Academy is a school that provides different curriculums for music students and general education students. Kahoko Hino is one of these general education students. One day, Hino comes across a music fairy who gives her a magic violin and forces her to join the Seiso Academy annual music competition. Kahoko knows that she has no prior experience playing the violin but realizes that once she picks up the violin, she can play any piece on the magic violin as long as she knows how it sounds like. She meets several musicians also competing in the tournament and befriends them.
La Corda d’Oro Plot:
Kahoko Hino – Hino is a second year general education student in Seiso Academy. She comes across a music fairy that gives her a magic violin that can play any tune she is familiar with. She then ends up competing in the school’s music competition despite having no prior experience with playing the Violin.
Ren Tsukimori – Ren is a second year music student in Seiso Academy. He is an extremely talented Violinist who lives only to play the Violin. He’s extremely protective over his fingers to the point where he shields them even if he’s receiving a beating.
Azuma Yunoki – Azuma is a third year music student in Seiso Academy. He is a gifted violinist and has many girls swooning over him. He is best friends with Kazuki.
Lili – Lili is a music fairy who gave Hino the magic violin. At first, it is believed that only Hino can see the fairy until the headmaster, Akihiko Kira, reveals he can see Lili as well. Lili forces Hino into joining the school’s music competition.
