Kingdom Hearts is a game series published and developed by Square Enix, Jupiter and h.a.n.d. It is a crossover action game by Disney Interactive Studios and Square Enix. It was created by Tetsuya Nomura and Shinji Hashimoto. The director and character design was by Tetsuya Nomura. It was first released on March 28, 2002 for the PlayStation 2. A manga adaption was created and illustrated by Shiro Amano and was published in Monthly Shonen Gangan in October 2003.

Kingdom Hearts Plot:

Kingdom Hearts follows the story of Sora, a young boy who was separated from his friends Kairi and Riku when their world was invaded by creatures known as “Heartless”. Sora found a weapon called the “Keyblade” which allowed him to combat the Heartless. He travels to Traverse Town, another world where he meets Goofy and Donald Duck who were sent by King Mickey to aid the Keyblade’s wielder. Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy travel to Disney-themed worlds to stop the “Heartless” attacks as well as find Kairi and Riku. They soon discover that Maleficent is using the heartless to get her hands on the seven maidens called the “Princesses of Heart” who wield the power to open “Kingdom Hearts” and rule all the worlds.

Kingdom Hearts Characters:

[Sora (Kingdom Hearts)] – Sora is a teenager who lives in the Destiny Islands with Kairi and Riku. His land was attacked by creatures called “Heartless” where he found the Keyblade. His friends went missing and he made it his goal to find his friends. As he travels to different worlds, he meets Donald Duck, Goofy as well as other Disney characters and helps the different worlds from the Heartless attacks.

[Riku (Kingdom Hearts)] – Riku is a resident of the Destiny Islands and is best friends with Sora and Kairi. He helps Sora and Kaira build a raft so that they may travel to other worlds. Before they could set off, the Heartless attack and Riku vanishes.

[Axel (Kingdom Hearts)] – Axel is part of Orginzation XIII and is Rank VIII. He wields fire magic and uses it to enhance his twin chakrams.

[Kairi (Kingdom Hearts)] – Kairi is the best friend of Sora and Riku. She appears in the Destiny Islands after a meteor shower. She dreamed of travelling with Sora and Riku on a raft but before they were able to set off, the Heartless attack and she vanishes.

[Donald Duck] – Donald is King Mickey’s Royal Magician and is sent by King Mickey to aid Sora in his journey. He wields a staff as his weapon.

[Mickey Mouse] – King Mickey is the king of Disney Castle. He travels between worlds to fight against the Heartless with his Keyblade. He sends Goofy and Donald Duck to help Sora defeat the darkness.

[Goofy] – Goofy is the captain of King Mickey’s Royal Knights. He is sent by King Mickey to aid Sora in his journey. He doesn’t like to wield weapons but instead, uses a shield.
