Junjou Romantica is a manga created and illustrated by Shungiku Nakamura and was published in Asuka Ciel starting 2002 up until the present by Kadokawa Shoten. An anime adaptation was made by Studio Deen, directed by Chiaki Kon and aired on April 10, 2008 and ended December 27, 2008 on TV Hokkaido.

Junjou Romantica Plot:

Junjou Romantica is a collection of stories that is connected to each other.

Takahashi Misaki is preparing for his college entrance exam, but he is in need of a tutor to pass. In comes Usami Akihiko, Misaki's brother's best friend, a handsome and famous novel writer who is secretly in love with Misaki's brother. Conflict between the two arises when Misaki finds out about this and it seems like the two will never get along. Also, the fact that Akihiko has a weird obsession with teddy bears didn't help. Despite this, Misaki is still determined to impress Akihiko, but was hurt when Misaki's brother broke his heart when his brother announced that he is getting married. Furious that Akihiko pretended that everything was okay, Misaki ran out of the house. Akihiko followed and was moved when Misaki cried for him.

Junjou Romantica Characters:

Takahashi Misaki - An 18 year old little brother of Takahashi Takahiro preparing for his entrance examinations to enter Mitsuhashi University with the intention of fulfilling his brother's dream. His brother decided to work instead of studying to be able to support Misaki after their parents died in a car accident. Misaki blames himself for their deaths and believes that if he hadn't asked them to hurry home, the accident would have been avoided. Due to this incident, he decided to do his best not to be a burden to anyone. Misaki is Akihiko's lover, but he denies that he is gay. Because of this, he is having a hard time showing his affections to Akihiko.

Usami Akihiko - A 28 year old writer and the youngest recipient of the Naomori Award. While his books are really popular with his fans, he also writes erotic boys love novels under the name Akikawa Yayoi because it lets him earn money on his fantasies. Akihiko has a habit of running away or making excuses when his deadline is near.

He is secretly in love with Misaki's brother for years. He became Misaki's tutor in preparation of Misaki's entrance exams for Mitsuhashi University. He is mostly known as Usagi (rabbit in Japanese), a nickname given to him by Takahiro and was later adapted by Misaki.

Kamijou Hiroki – Hiroko is a childhood friend of Akihiro. Just like how Akihiko had an unrequited love to Takahiro, Hiroki has an unrequited love to Akihiko. He once convinced Akihiko to make love with him by telling Akihiko to pretend that he was Takahiro in hopes that Akihiko will love him instead, but ended up realizing that his love will never be returned. He is an associate professor in Mitsuhashi University and is the teacher in Misaki's Japanese literature class. He is known as "Devil Kamijou" by his students. He is in a relationship with Nowaki, who calls him Hiro-san.

Kusuma Nowaki – He is an orphan who was abandoned by his parents when he was only a baby. He was given the name Nowaki by the owner of the orphanage who adopted him because he was found during a storm. Nowaki found Hiroki when he was crying alone on his way to fetch the rocket he and some elderly men was launching to pass time. He insisted that Nowaki tutor him for his high school proficiency examinations.

Miyagi You - He is a literature professor in Mitsuhashi University and Hiroki's colleague. He usually tease Hiroki because it makes him feel better. Miyagi's ex-wife divorced him because he was indifferent to her. He revealed that he couldn't bring himself to fall in love because he believes that someday, they will go their separate ways.

Takatsuki Shinobu – He is Miyagi's young ex-brother-in-law who believes that he and Miyagi are meant for each other. He is stubborn and was persistent in making Miyagi 'take responsibility' for making him fall in love. His love for Miyagi started when Miyagi saved him from some gangsters and believed that they were destined to meet each other.
