Hua Cheng is a Ghost King and a Devastation-level ghost. He is one of the Four Great Calamities with the title Crimson Rain Sought Flower. He has a great interest in Xie Lian, and helps him in his endeavors. He also goes by the alias San Lang.

Hua Cheng gained notoriety within the Heavenly Court when he challenged 33 officials to duels and bested every one of them. When the officials refused to honor the terms of his victory, he burned down every single one of their temples overnight, and vanquished them to obscurity.

Hua Cheng is the leader of Ghost City, where he operates a gambling den that will accept any stakes to achieve great fortune. He has the ability to manipulate luck, which is demonstrated through his use of dice. He is also extremely knowledgeable in all things.

While Hua Cheng is a shapeshifter and wears many faces, his true form is that of a handsome man wearing an Eyepatch and red wedding robes, with silver Vambraces and silver Bells on his black Boots. He has the ability to summon silver wraith Butterflies and is often depicted with them. He is frequently seen carrying a red Oil-Paper Umbrella. He wields a sentient Scimitar inlaid with a red eye named E-ming.
