Hokuto no Ken is a manga created by Buronson with illustrations by Tetsuo Hara. It was published by Shuiesha in Weekly Shonen Jump start 1983 and ended 1988. It was adapted into two anime adaptations by Toei Animation studi. The first series aired starting October 4, 1984 and ended March 5, 1987 on FujiTV. The second also aired on Fuji TV starting March 13, 1987 and ended February 18, 1988.
Hokuto no Ken Plot:
Hokuto no Ken’s setting is a post nuclear world where law and society has reverted to that of the medieval ages. Kenshiro was passed down the powerful martial arts of Hokuto Shinken which utilizes pressure points to destroy his opponents by exploding their bodies. He dedicates his life to fight warlords who abuse the lives of the weak as well as take down his brother.
Hokuto no Ken Characters:
Kenshiro – Kenshiro is a Hokuto Soke descendent. Ryuke, master of the Hokuto Shinken, adopted him and gave him the name Kenshiro. Kenshiro would watch his other stepbrothers train using the Hokuto Shinken when eventually; he joined the fight and became the successor of the Hokuto Shinken.
Raoh – Roah and his brother, Toki, were Shura natives but Jukei moved them to the mainland after they were orphaned. Roah trained under Ryuken and honed his martial arts skills.
Rei (Hokuto No Ken) – When Rei’s parents were killed and his sister kidnapped, he roamed the wastes depending on survival alone. He was hired to act as a spy for Mamiya village but he decided to join Kenshiro in defeating the Fang Clan.
Shin (Hokuto No Ken) – Shin has always wanted Kenshiro’s fiancé, Yuria, for himself. After master Ryuken died, Shin defeated Kenshiro in a fight scarring him with the big dipper on Kenshiro’s chest as a reminder of his defeat. He then moved on to amassing an army and building the Southern Cross city.
