Higashi no Eden – Eden Of The East – _Images

Higashi no Eden is an anime which first aired on April 9th, 2009 on Fuji TV. It was created and directed by Kenji Kamiyama, character design by Chika Umino and animation by Production I.G. Higashi no Eden I, II and III were released on November 28, 2009, March 13, 2013 and December 27, 2010 respectively.

Higashi no Eden Plot:

Monday, November 22, 2010 came to be known as “Careless Monday” when ten missiles struck Japan but caused no casualties. The series takes place three months after Careless Monday when a Japanese university student, Saki Morimi, visits the White House in Washington D.C. as her graduation trip. She gets into trouble with White House security when a naked, Japanese man walks up to her holding a cellphone and a pistol. The man appears to have lost his memory and has a pile of fake passports hidden in his apartment. He chooses the name “Akira Takizawa” from a Japanese passport, and returns to Japan with Saki when they hear about another missile hitting Japan.

Akira finds out that he has ¥8.2 billion in his cellphone as digital currency, and that he is taking part in a game with other 11 people called Selecao. Selecaos are handed ¥10 billion to somehow “save” Japan. They can speak to Juiz over their special phone and have anything be done for a price. When the ¥10 billion is used up, the twelfth man, the Supporter, kills them. Akira investigates the Selecao meeting dirty policemen, doctors and serial killers. He later discovers who was behind Careless Monday as well as why he lost his memories.

Important Characters:

Takizawa Akira – Akira is a young man with amnesia. He wakes up naked with only a gun and a cellphone and meets Saki Morimi in front of the White House. He then discovers he has an extremely complex cellphone with ¥8.2 billion in it. When he uses his phone, he meets Juiz, who tells him that she can do anything for him for a price. In his apartment, he discovers that he has a stash of guns and passports and chooses the name “Akira Takizawa” from his several passports. He discovers that he is part of the Selecao who were given ¥10 billion to somehow save Japan.

Morimi Saki – Saki is a young, Japanese woman who goes to New York and then Washington D.C to celebrate her last year in university. She throws a coin into the White House where she is apprehended by White House security. She is then saved by a naked man carrying a pistol and a cellphone. She gives her coat to Akira to show her gratitude but realizes that her passport is in the coat she game him. She ends up following him to his apartment and eventually back to Japan where she gets involved in Akira’s adventure to save Japan.
