Ghost Hunt – Inada Shiho – _Images

Ghost Hunt (ゴーストハント) was originally entitled Akuryou Series (悪霊シリーズ) and an occult, horror detective light novel series written by Fuyumi Ono. A manga adaptation of Ghost Hunt was later written and illustrated by Shiho Inada and then was followed by an anime adaptation that was directed by Rei Mano and animated by J.C. Staff studios. The first episode of Ghost Hunt was aired on October 3rd, 2006 having 25 episodes and the last episode being aired on March 27th, 2007.

Plot:
The story of Ghost Hunt revolves around the ghost hunting adventures of Mai Taniyama, a first year high school student who becomes part of the Shibuya Psychic Research center or SPR. She works alongside Buddhist monk Houshou Takigawa, shrine maiden Ayako Matsuzaki, celebrity teen psychic Hara Masako, Catholic australian priest John Brown and the team’s young manager, Kazuya Shibuya.

She initially dubs Kazuya Shibuya “Naru” because of his narcissistic attitude which was later adapted by the other team members as the story progresses. The episodes are often divided into a number of min-arcs, each detailing the exploits of the Psychic Research Team in each of the cases that involves the supernatural.

Characters:
Mai Taniyama(谷山 麻衣) – She is the story’s 16-year old female main protagonist. She gets involved with the Shibuya Psychic Research team or SPR after she accidentally breaks an expensive video camera that was being used by the SPR while the paranormal research group was investigating an abandoned school building. At the same time, she was saved by Koujo Lin from a falling book case and because of it, Koujo Lin got injured. She decides to take the role of Koujo Lin as a means to repay her debt and assists Kazuya Shibuya.

Shibuya Kazuya (渋谷 一也) – He is the 17 year old paranormal researcher and manager of the Shibuya Psychic Research center. Taniyama Mai dubs him as “Naru” because of his narcissistic attitude. The nickname eventually stuck and seemingly does not have any sort of psychic powers. He is portrayed in the anime as someone stoic and critical in front of people when in fact he can be caring towards his friends.

Lin Koujo(林 興徐) – He is Kazuya Shibuya’s no-nonsense and quiet assistant. He appears to be the one who ends up working out difficult tasks and is a strong onmyouji who can summon spirits, elementals and even execute exorcism.
