General Information:

Danball Senki Wars (Japanese: ダンボール戦機 lit. Little Battlers Experience Wars) was originally developed as a series of action role-playing video games created by Level-5, the same game developer company responsible for big-hit games like Dragon Quest, Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy.
Danball Senki Wars is the third installment of the franchise released around the time the PlayStation Portable game was just released. The manga adaptation by Hideaki Fujii first came out in Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Comics on Febraury 2011.
Danball Senki Wars is still an ongoing manga series with 1 volume published thus far.


The anime adaptation on the other hand was directed by Naohito Takahashi and produced by OLM Studios.
Danball Senki Wars was later licensed by Densetsu Entertainment USA for an American release on Animax and Nicktoons.
Danball Senki Wars premiered on TV Tokyo on March 2011 and briefly ended on January 2012 of the following year.

Danball Senki Wars is set in the distant future of the year 2055, 4 years after the events of Danball Senki W.
Little Battlers Experience (LBX for short), a game between small plastic model robots fighting on dioramas made out of cardboard, has become the world’s biggest hobby.
It is big enough that pro leagues have been established and people can now make a living being an LBX player.
Sena Arata is the 14-year old transfer student who joins Kamui Daimon Integrated Academy, the country’s most prestigious institution for aspiring LBX players.
It has been known for raising world-class professional LBX players.
Players from all corners of the world enroll at this school in hopes of making their way into the professional world of LBX.
But entering such an elite school requires extremely competitive hurdles one of which a player is required to win at least 3 official tournaments.
Thus begins Arata’s long journey to becoming a world-class champion in his own right, tackling one tournament at a time with the rest of his team and facing numerous rivals all the while delved into the mysterious secrets of the academy.


Characters:

Arata Sena is the upbeat, energetic and quirky main protagonist of Danball Senki Wars. His passion lies in LBX and he wishes to one day become a professional LBX player. He started with the Achilles Deed LBX and eventually ended up with the Dot Phasor and Dot Blasterizer.


Haruki Izumo is the captain of Jennock First Platoon together Arata and Hikaru. As the responsible leader of the team, he is capable of making right and sound decisions. He started out with the Orvane LBX and upgraded it to the Trivhine and later the Zebra Lord which he used in Ura Ranking Battles.


Hikaru Hoshihara is the shy, quiet and soft-spoken member of the First Platoon. He is distrusting of others and only confident in his own skills. He is overly competitive and would challenge anyone stronger than him. He first used the Lucifer LBX and eventually ended up with the Jil Samurai which he used for the Ura Ranking Battles.

Update:

Danball Senki Wars is the third installment of the Danball Senki franchise and served as a sequel to Danball Senki and Danball Senki W.
Several video games by Level-5 Studios have been produced since then including its most recently published game for the Nintendo3DS of the same name on October 2013.


Several anime shows come to mind when it comes to Danball Senki Wars including Medabots, Gundam Build Fighters, Busou Shinki and Angelic Layer all of which are anime shows where characters fights one another with miniature robots/dolls. You could also check out Bedaman, Beyblade, and Crush Gear Nitro which shares the same theme, genre and concept as Danball Senki Wars.
