Boota is a pig mole that Simon and Kamina met in Jeeha Village. He’s mostly comic relief but has been the determining factor in some of Simon and Kamina’s battles and is considered the Dai-Gurren Brigade’s mascot.
Throughout the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann series, Boota stays with Simon and doesn’t really do much. At one point, Simon and Kamina couldn’t go on fighting because of hunger. Boota bravely ripped off his tail (it grew back later) and gave it to Simon and Kamina as food. When Simon was depressed over Kamina’s death, Boota did his best to console Simon but was not able to snap him out of it.
When Yoko piloted Gurren, Boota helped her get over Kamina’s death. He also stayed with Yoko when she got injured.
When Simon and the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren were stuck in the Sea of Despair, Simon and Viral were able to boost the ship’s defenses because of Boota’s Spiral Energy. Once the Anti-Spirals were no more, Boota was Simon’s only companion when he travelled the world.
When in the Extra-dimensional Labyrinth, Boota took on a form of a human as a result of his absorption of Simon’s spiral energy throughout their adventures. When Boota was in this state, he beat the fake Anti-Spiral in one blow. Since he developed more intelligence, he was aware that his form was a result of the Extra-dimensional Labyrinth and that he was trapped like the others. When he escaped the labyrinth, he turned back into a pig-mole.
He was present during Simon’s childhood and adulthood and didn’t appear to age.
Boota is a tiny pig-mole that has short brown fur, black sunglasses and a star patch where his bottom and tail meet.
Human Boota has tamed, gelled-back, dark-pink hair and wears a pair of yellow sunglasses. He’s naked but has wide dark-pink stripes all over his body. During this transformation, human Boota keeps the pig-mole nose.
