Black Lagoon is a manga created and illustrated by Rei Hiroe. It was published in Monthly Sunday Gene-X in April 19, 2002 and ended in 2009. It then resumed in the Sunday Gene-X on February,2013. The first season of the anime adaptation was produced by Madhouse and aired on Chiba TV in April 8th, 2006 and ended on June 24th, 2006. The second season began on October 3rd, 2006 and ended on December 19, 2006.

Black Lagoon Plot:

Black Lagoon follows a group of mercenaries called the Lagoon Company, which smuggles weapons, people and even legal goods in Southeast Asia. Even though they deal with many people and clients, they have a close relationship with Hotel Moscow. The team takes on several delivery missions and get into many gun fights with other pirates, crime syndicates or even the police. A salaryman, Rock, is kidnapped by the Lagoon Company after he is abandoned by his company. He eventually joins their ranks and works as a negotiator, accountant and translator. He then accompanies the Lagoon Company into their many dangerous jobs.

Black Lagoon Characters:

[Rokuro Okajima] – Rock is a salaryman who is kidnapped by the Lagoon Company after he was abandoned by his company. He eventually joins the Lagoon Company as their negotiator, accountant and translator. Experienced in the ways of the diplomat, he makes the Lagoon Company’s jobs easier by not involving guns and violence.

[Revy] – Revy is a beautiful woman who acts as the muscle of the Lagoon Company. She is so skilled with wielding guns that she is given the title “two hands” because of the two pistols she wields in battle. She loves nothing more than talking with her gun and winning which gets her into many fights with Rock.

[Dutch] – Dutch is the boss of the Lagoon Company and captain of the Black Lagoon. He may seem laid back but was actually a member of the US Marine during the Vietnam War. He’s one of the members of the Lagoon Company who can sympathize with Rock and keep Revy in check.

[Benny] – Benny is the Lagoon Company’s tech expert. He flees the US and joins the Lagoon Company when he angered the mafia and the FBI. He doesn’t enjoy getting into dangerous situations but has been in enough gun fights to keep his cool.
