Bakuman。 – Obata Takeshi – _Images

Bakuman takes after the story of high school student Moritaka Mashiro, a gifted craftsman who does not know what he needs to do with his future. One day he draws a picture of Miho Azuki, a young lady he is secretly enchanted with.

He returns to find that his friend Akito Takagi is waiting for him with his journal. Takagi tries to persuade Mashiro to turn into a mangaka, a manga craftsman, with him, prompting Mashiro's defiance. Mashiro goes home and listens to his mangaka uncle, who had a stand out will before he died. Mashiro is stopped by a telephone call from Takagi, who says that he is going to tell Azuki that Mashiro likes her. Mashiro runs down to Azuki's home to discover Takagi sitting tight for him. When Azuki turns up, Takagi lets her know that he and Mashiro are expecting to be mangaka.

Mashiro then discovers that she needs to be a seiyū, a voice performing artist, and has demonstrated promise in the field. Mashiro, at the end of the day contemplating his uncle, coincidentally proposes to Azuki who acknowledges. In any case, she will just wed him after they accomplish their dreams. Mashiro and Takagi in the wake of sending in a few manga, start a manga series titled Detective Trap. Not long after the series is scratched off, Mashiro and Takagi start their work for their next manga series, Run, Daihatsu Tanto!

[Mashiro Moritaka] - Mashiro doesn’t have any aspirations in life. Graduate from good schools and get into a good company. He is satisfied living a normal life. Everyone in school calls him Saiko, a different way to read his first name. One day, Takagi, a classmate of his, took a peek in his notebook and immediately asked Mashiro to pair up and become mangakas. Mashiro refused at first because he doesn't want to end up like his uncle, but when he found out that his crush, Azuki Miho, wanted to become a voice actress, he suddenly proposed that he and Takagi are going to pair up and become mangakas and she can be the voice actress of the female lead in their story if ever their manga was made into an anime and after that, they can get married. Miho agreed with a condition that they won’t see each other face to face before their dreams come true. Greatly motivated, he finally agreed to Takagi's proposal and does the illustrations for their manga.

[Takagi Akito] - He is a top student in their school and in the whole of Japan. He wanted to become a mangaka instead of being an office worker doing boring tasks. Seeing Mashiro's talent, he encouraged Mashiro into teaming up with him to become the best mangaka in Japan. To motivate Mashiro, Takagi revealed to him that his crush dream to become a voice actress. He writes the story for their manga.

[Azuki Miho] - Miho is a shy and quiet girl whose dream is to become a voice actress. She is the love interest of Mashiro. She accepted Mashiro's proposal that after they achieve their dreams, they will get married. It was later revealed that the woman Mashiro's uncle fell in love with was her mother.
