  the handwriting is really messy but i think the first panel says something like "our dads (something something) but become friends?" so probably "our dads didn't get along but maybe they could become friends?"
  2nd panel is them seeing each other off
  last panel..... james says something about "with those guys now" so i think "what's up with/between those guys now" and i can only read rose's first line which is something like "they can't become/be lovers"
  
  if the artist's handwriting was a bit neater i could identify some of those mystery kana
