    The art is awesome but if I have to say the truth I don't like at all this Yuno/Saru and Yuki/Misaki comparison. Saru has just slight yandere tendencies, while Yuno is on extreme levels. Until now Saruhiko hasn't killed anyone, he would never be able to do something like that because he's not a bad person, he just pretends to be a total asshole to gain Misaki's hatred and attention while Yuno is actually a merciless murderer, she acts all lovey dovey with Yuki but she has a cruel nature. She may be the most interesting character of the series but she's still a despicable person, I'd like to butt in the show and erase her from every existing universe... -.-;

    And comparing Yuki to Misaki is an insult to the latter because Yuki is one of the most spineless main characters ever (along with Shinji Ikari from Evangelion) while Misaki despite being cute and all, has **** and is quite badass, he's perfectly able to stand on his own. So no please, just NO!!! >.>

    I don't know the other two characters so I can't say anything about them.

    Saruhiko is a sociopath,even with his past with Misaki. This has always been Saruhiko. Basing his personality,he matches a Scorpio perfect.Intense,Passionate, Jealous, Secretive, Violent. Saruhiko can't be a Yandere because he's not loving and caring on the outside with that enlarged psychopathic intense killing motif stuff..He's bored and often frustrated.

    With an interview with the voice actor, Mamoru Miyano, Fushimi was originally a rather timid person who clung on to Misaki because he's the only one who was nice and actively tried to reach out to him.

    Yandere's are characters that have been this way since birth and thus their character cannot be changed.Saruhiko is a different story.In flashbacks, he was a lot more calm but the more Misaki ignored him, the more jealous he became.Eventually after that he just snapped.His character could be more to Tsundere because he never actually confessed his feelings to Misaki and is bashful and hesitant with Misaki in some situations in the past. (Going back to them in highschool.)

    ^ I think you're right, I've always had doubts about Saru being a yandere, to me his nature fits more in the Tsundere category, people who on the outside act rough and violent but inside have a kind heart, they're shy and clumsy with their feelings and have a huge difficulty into showing them.

    Btw sometimes his old caring nature press to come out (as we can see in ep 13 when Misaki's HOMRA mark starts to burn and Saru immediately checks him with a caring and worried expression but then the crow starts rambling about Mikoto and so... ^^;) but it always happens something that immediately brings back his current bahavior (in chapter 11 we can see that they still have the same complicity when they were partners, some situations bring back some old memories from their past together. In the end we can see that to Misaki just a good word from Saru would be enough to forget all the bad things happened between them but Saru snaps out when Misaki says to still consider him ONE of his important comrades because obviously for Saru being one among others is not enough, he wants to be the only one for Misaki (the main mistake Misaki makes when he's with Saru is to generalize due to his clumsiness into showing his real feelings. Also in the flashback when Saru tells Misaki to have joined Scepter 4, Misaki makes the same mistake and Saru understands that Misaki's more mad because he betrayed HOMRA than because he betrayed their "friendship". But then, years after when he was with Izumo Misaki says: "It's him who betrayed ME first" Why can't you be honest with yourself and with him Misaki??? ç___ç). Then he thinks: "That's not what I wanted". And with his harsh reply hurts Misaki's feelings again. It's always the same, Misaki unconsciously hurts Saru and Saru wanting Misaki to feel the same pain (and also because he wants his hatred and attention) hurts Misaki as well. Their sad expressions when in the end the both of them said: "Nothing happened." broke my heart.

    But apart from Saru being a sociopath we can also notice from chapter 10 that when he's with Misaki he pretends, pretends all the time. There's a panel where as soon as he sees Misaki, in the beginning he's surprised, then lowers his gaze and two seconds after immediately puts up his mask with the usual mocking expression. Moreover we notice that for the first time he's not that happy to be stuck there with Misaki... Why? Because usually when they're together they do nothing other but fight but since Saru had a broken leg and couldn't do it, there would certainly be embarassing silences and unconfortable conversations he wanted to avoid at all costs because he was afraid that in a situation like that (the extreme closeness to Misaki) his true feelings would came out. Did you see how he immediately removed Misaki when he was on top of him? ^^;

    About the interview, if we're talking about the same one, Mamoru Miyano was talking about Saruhiko in general, past and present, so he still thinks that he's a timid person afraid to lose the only important person of his life and that their "small world" will break off . I think the same, Saru is still a timid person and we can notice it from small things: he still distances himself from everyone like in the past, the fact that he was the only one to wear swimming trunks in the onsen drama even though they were all males and his habit of averting the gaze when someone stares at him with the intent to read his feelings.

    In the end I say no, Saru definitely isn't a yandere so this comparison is invalid.

    In Saruhiko and Misaki's interview together as well,you can also see that they interact in a very loud and harsh manner.Saruhiko always wants to pull a nerve with Misaki,play around with him because he just wants Misaki to notice him.That interview with them said alot because it shows the playful and mask front Saruhiko has. All he wants is to push Misaki's buttons.

    And this interview
    really brinngs home their level of understanding.

    Everything was always about Mikoto and his being so Saruhiko started to feel shunned off because Misaki showed less and less interest into him. Yandere characters will love and do anything please their love interest and in a heart beat will tear anything in their way apart.Saruhiko isn't like that.He always wants to put Misaki down,as way to show Misaki how hurt he feels but he will stop anyone from hurting him which shows how devoted he is.

    I agree alot with you Keehl.

    Actually, there's not so much to understand. In the first half of the picture the artist drew three popular yandere characters (in her point of view of course) and in the second half their love interests.

    Me and @Trickster of Thieves were just agreeing that from what we've seen of him so far from canon material, Saruhiko's personality suits more the "tsundere" than the "yandere" category, so classify him as a yandere character is wrong and the comparison the artist made is invalid, that's all.

    What are they even doing in the last panel? Playing cards? XD
    --
    Honestly, I don't think this is classifying yanderes and their love interests, since Mikasa and Saru is definitely not yandere. Maybe it's closer to powerful protectors and their love interests,but then again Saru is not Misaki's protector.
    I can see the grasp of it but this is difficult to explain XDDD

    ^ Yes, they're playing cards xD

    I agree but don't forget that this parallel is from the artist's pov so maybe in her opinion Saru and Mikasa are both yandere.

  • Mayu-Kusabana

    May 17, 2013

    Wha... Saruhiko is totally not yandere. He tries to make Misaki hate him to get attention from him because he cares about him and doesn't want him to forget about him. If he was yandere he'd have tried to killed the entirety of HOMRA ._.

  • lady Rivel Keehl

    ^ Thanks God, finally someone who gets Saru's real personality ^O^ If he was like Yuno, he would've already killed every single person between him and Misaki exactly how the girl did with Akise ^^;

    Btw now that I started following Shingeki no Kyojin, I can totally say that Mikasa is definitely not a yandere. This parallel is a total failure, the yandere/love interest thing works only for Yuno and Yuki, the other two cases have nothing to do with it xD

    May 26, 2013

    Uhhh, it isn't explicitly mentioned in the picture that they're yanderes. o_O It's more like, those three have someone they're really devoted to/obsessive about.

    Saruhiko really don't fit. He is such a lame and pointless character.

    ^ Probably because you didn't get a single thing about him, there are no lame and pointless characters in K Project. Fushimi together with Munakata is one of the most intriguing characters, that's a fact.

    Btw I agree a lot with @Trickster of Thieves and @lady Rivel Keehl, Fushimi has just slight yandere tendencies but he's more the tsundere type. About Mikasa and Yuno it can't be helped, I just feel bad for Eren (I don't care much about Yuki), I seriously hope Isayama won't put him with Mikasa, that would be really awful. EreMika is an atrocious pairing.
