I was wondering if it was a shout out to Yu Yu Hakusho, while the four tails, Son Goku, was a shout out to Dragon Ball Z~~ :D

There's also a tailed beast with the name Gyuuki, same name as one of the youkai's from Nurarihyon no Mago. :D

Most of it's just based on Japanese (and Chinese) traditional tales.

i don't think that's the same thing, considering it could have related to the episode itself. kurama's name could be a shout out to Yu Yu Hakusho as MissSummer so stated above, which I agree with on both.
