Yu Yu Hakusho – Togashi Yoshihiro – _Images

YuYu Hakusho is a manga created and illustrated by Yoshishiro Togashi and was published in Weekly Shonen Jump by Sheisha starting December 1990 and ended July 1994. An anime adaptation was written by Yukiyoshi Ohashi and directed by Noriyuki Abe under Studio Pierrot and aired starting October 10, 1992 and ended December 17, 1994 on Fuji TV.

YuYu Hakusho Plot:

A teenage boy, Urameshi Yuusuke, is a delinquent who constantly gets into fights but one day, he unexpectedly sacrifices himself to save a child’s life. Totally unexepected of him but Yuusuke is a ghost and must earn his existence back. He is then taken in by the son of the afterlife’s ruler, Koenma. Yuusuke helps take down demons threatening people’s lives.

Yuusuke is then joined by the local bully and his rival, Kuwabara Kazuma, and two demon ex-convicts, Kurama and Hiei. They team up to battle and determine humanity’s fate.

YuYu Hakusho Characters:

Kurama – Kurama is a silver haired demon fox. When he was injured, his spirit was put into a human baby, Shuichi Minamino. Kurama then controls the Minamo’s psyche after some aging. He struggles between accepting and balancing his human and demon fox personality but even though he’s usually in human form, he is still called Kurama.

Hiei – Hiei is a male fire demon who was born from female Ice Maidens. Ice maidens reproduce asexually only giving birth to females. Male children (which are frowned upon) are born when an Ice Maiden has sex with a male. He is one of twin children. He was disposed of supposedly to his doom but he survived and grew up in the wild where he developed his thirst for blood.

Urameshi Yuusuke – Yuusuke is a delinquent who unexpectedly sacrifices himself to save a child. He is then sent to the afterlife where he becomes humanity’s defender. He settles the dispute between Mukuro and Yomi by creating the Demon World Tournament where the winner becomes the Demon World’s ruler.

Kuwabara Kazuma – Kazuma is a student at Sarayashiki Junior High School. He’s considerd to be one of the toughest punks at Sarayashiki only second to Yuusuke. He constantly gets into fights with Yuusuke but always loses. He has a sixth sense which Yuusuke takes advantage of to try and return to llife. Kazuma ends up helping Yuusuke and gaining power.
