No. 6 is a novel that was written by Atsuko Asano. It was published by Kodansha as bunkobons on October 10, 2003 and ended on June 14, 2011. Hinoki Kino drew the manga and was published by Kodansha in their Aria Magazine (which specializes on shōjo mangas) on March 2011. The anime was done by Bones and aired in July 8, 2011 on FujiTV.
No.6 Plot:
In the Utopian city of No. 6, a well off, 12 year old boy named Shion provides shelter for another boy, Nezumi. After getting to know Nezumi over the night, Shion finds the next day that Nezumi has gone without a trace. Four years later, a series of deadly infections caused by parasitic bees has begun to plague No.6. Shion’s co-worker died of the plague and Shion was accused and arrested for murder. While Shion was being sent to a correctional facility, Nezumi suddenly returns and saves him. Throughout the series, Nezumi reveals No. 6’s dirty secrets to Shion.
No.6 Characters:
Shion (No.6) – Shion grew up as an upper class member of No. 6’s society. He lived in a Mansion in Chronos until he lost his prestigious title for allegedly helping Nezumi escape. He then worked for the city until he was arrested as a suspect of his co-worker’s murder. When he was being sent to a correctional facility, Nezumi saves him and takes him out of No. 6.
Nezumi (No.6) – When he was a child, his people and family were massacred in the Mao Genocide. He escaped and was raised by a woman of the same race who hated the city of No. 6. The woman was killed when she failed to assassinate No. 6’s mayor. Because of this, Nezumi ended up in the No. 6’s correctional facility. He then escaped and ended up in Shion’s home.
Inukashi – Inukashi is a master of information gathering and sells odd objects to people who are willing to pay. Nezumi uses Inukashi to retrieve information about No. 6’s correctional facility. When Shion escaped No. 6, Inukashi gave Shion the task of washing the dogs.
