Futari wa Precure Splash Star (Japanese: ふたりはプリキュア) is a Japanese magical girl anime series by Toei Animation.
Futari wa Precure Splash Star is the third installment of Izumi Todo’s Pretty Cure series which was made popular in 2004.
Futari wa Precure Splash Star has themes of action, comedy, magic, and even sports.
Futari wa Precure Splash Star premiered on TV Asahi’s ANN Network on February 2005.
Futari wa Precure Splash Star ended its brief run on January 2007 with 49 light-hearted action episodes.
During a summer festival five years ago, two seemingly average girls met for the first time after they each followed glowing **** which flew towards the Sky Tree, a humongous tree atop a mountain in their town.
Saki Hyuuga and Mai Misho are later reunited at the place they first met to become the legendary warriors Pretty Cure.
Flappy and Choppy, the seemingly odd glowing ball they followed when they were kids, were actually spirits from the Land of Fountains.
Saki and Mai are chosen by fate to protect the so-called Fountain of the Sun, the last of the Seven Fountains from the Dark Fall which have overrun the Land of Fountains.
With powers they obtained from Flappy and Choppy, Saki and Mai transforms into Cure Bloom and Cure Egret, respectively.
It is now in the hands of Saki and Mai to restore the Seven Fountains and save the Land of Fountains from Dark Fall before they get their hands on the last fountain said to be hidden on Earth.
Together, Mai and Saki are the new Pretty Cures and the fate of the rest of the world rests on their hands.
Saki Hyuuga is the cheerful and athletic ace pitcher of the girls’ softball team of Yuunagi Middle School. Although skilled in sports, Saki isn’t too bright when it comes to school or studying. She is extremely passionate when it comes to sports. She transforms into Cure Bloom and later into Cure Bright. Cure Bloom represents earth and Cure Bright represents the moon.
Mai Misho is the reserved shy girl who prefers sketching over stargazing. Although coming from a family of Science (her father is an astronomer and her mother is an archeologist), she does prefer arts over science. She transforms into Cure Egret and later into Cure Windy. Cure Egret represents the sky and Cure Windy represents the wind.
The manga adaptation of Futari wa Precure Splash Star by Izumi Todo was published on March 2006 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine.
A feature-length film entitled “Tic Tac Crisis Hanging by a Thread” is based on the original series Futari wa Precure Splash Star.
The movie was directed by Atsuji Shimizu and hit the theaters on December 2006.
