Dokidoki! Precure – _Images

Doki!Doki! PreCure is a magical girl anime series as the tenth (10th) installment of Izumi Todo’s Pretty Cure franchise.
Hiroaki Shibata, known for his excellent work in Digimon, produced the series together with Ryota Yamaguchi whose known works include writing the script for The Vision of Escaflowne.
Doki!Doki! PreCure is produced by Toei Animation and was scheduled to premiere the big screens last February 2013 on TV Asahi’s ANN Network.
Doki!Doki! PreCure has a whooping 49 episodes which shortly ended on January 2014 of the following year.
It wasn’t long after did Izumi Todo work on the manga adaptation of the show which was published and serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine.
The manga started publishing on March 2013 and ended late February 2014.

PLOT:

The Trump Kingdom is a mystical world where everyone lived happily under the reliable guidance of Princess Marie Ange.
Out of the blue, an unknown evil force calling themselves the “Jikochu” attacked the kingdom. Luckily for them, Cure Sword, the princess’ most trusted warrior was able to fend off the attackers.
In the heat of the battle, the princess has been sent to the human world. It now falls in the hands of Cure Sword to find the missing princess and bring her back to the Kingdom before the Jikochu finds out that she has gone missing.
Accompanying her are three other fairies whose job is to find three chosen girls to become their allies in the upcoming fights.
Aida Mana is the president of the student council who is always eager to do things for the sake of other people.
On her visit to the Clover Tower’s observatory, she bumps into a Jikochu who tried to steal her heart if not for Sharuru, one of the Trump Kingdom fairies, who gives her the power to become Cure Heart.
Together with Cure Diamond, Cure Rosetta and Cure Sword, the DokiDoki Pretty Cure must fight to protect everyone’s hearts from the sinister Jikochu.



CHARACTERS:

Mana Aida is the bright and energetic student council president of Ogai First Public Middle School. She believes that actions speaks louder than words and is eager than most to put others first before herself. She may seem rather impulsive when it comes to helping other people, jumping right in and not thinking of the consequences. She transforms into Cure Heart and attacks her enemies by purifying them with her energy.


Makoto Kenzaki is the loyal imperial guard and songstress of the mystical Trump Kingdom. Her strong sense of responsibility towards the princess has led her on a journey to the human world in hopes of finding the princess and bringing her back to the kingdom. Reluctant at first, she eventually warms up to the other Cures and realizes that she may need their help in her mission. She transforms into Cure Sword and uses slicing blade attacks.


Rikki Hishikawa is the student council clerk and a good friend of Mana’s. She is one of the brightest students at Ogai First Public Middle School making it to the top ten students who aced the national mock exams. She cares deeply for Mana, often trying to keep her from doing anything crazy. She transforms into Cure Diamond who uses icy blasts to freeze her opponents.


Alice Yotsuba is the single heir to Yotsuba Zaibatsu, owner of big and flourishing corporation. Alice is a childhood friend of Mana and Rikki back when they were in elementary school together. She has learned martial arts from her grandfather at a very young age. Most of the time, she is a caring and polite person although she can sometimes flaunt her wealth without thinking. She transforms into Cure Rosetta and her power mostly involves making protective barriers.


UPDATE:

The Pretty Cure franchise has been one of the biggest and most successful anime in history spanning over 500 episodes to date.
Several animated films have been released including the more recent DokiDoki Precure the Movie which was released last October 2013 and produced by Toei Animation.
It’s most recent installment is the Happiness Charge Precure which started last February 2014 as the 11th installment of the Pretty Cure franchise.
Toei Animation has also announced that they are planning another show entitled Go! Princess Precure which is scheduled for the year 2015.


Recommended titles that are quite similar DokiDoki Precure in both content and genre would include Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magical, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Stars, Card Captor Sakura, Fairy Musketeers Akazukin, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Saint Angel and all of the Pretty Cure series.
