Chuuka Ichiban! – Cooking Master Boy – _Images

Chuuka Ichiban is a manga authored by Etsushu Ogawa and it was published in Weekly Shonen Magazine by Kodansha starting 1995 and ended 1999. An anime adaptation was made by studio Nippon Animation, directed by Masami Anno and aired starting April 27th, 1997 and ended September 13th, 1998 on Fuji TV.

Chuuka Ichiban Plot:

After Mao’s mother, an exemplary cook, passes away, Mao makes it his goal in life to become the best chef he could possibly be and inherits his mother’s title as “Master Chef” of the family restaurant. Before taking on the responsibility of the restaurant, Mao travels all over china to learn cooking techniques. Along his quest, he encounters new friends, enemies and rival who challenge him to test of beat his cooking.

Chuuka Ichiban Characters:

Liu Mao Hsing – Mao is a young boy who learned cooking by watching his mother run her restaurant. He grew up learning his mother’s cooking techniques and developed a passion for cooking. When his mother passes away, he takes over the restaurant where everyone discovers his talent for cooking. He goes on a journey all over China to become the best chef.

Chou Mei Li – Mei Li used to help out at Yang Spring Restaurant. She fell for Mao when she witnessed his love for cooking and how much he cares for people. She doesn’t know much about cooking but tries to help Mao along his journey.

Zhi Lao (Shirou) – Shirou is a half Chinese; half Japanese boy who bumped into Mao after stealing food. He was on a journey to become a Super Chef but failed and returned to his village pretending to be one. When the authorities found out he was a fake, he became Mao’s apprentice and travelled with him.
