Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (あの日見た花の名前を僕達はまだ知らない。 Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.?, lit. "We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day.") is an 11-episode 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai. The anime aired in Fuji TV's noitaminA block between April and June 2011.
An anime film will be released in summer 2013.
A novelization by Mari Okada was serialized in Media Factory's Da Vinci magazine from March to July 2011.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Mitsu Izumi began serialization in the May 2012 issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine.
A visual novel adaptation for the PlayStation Portable was released by 5pb. in August 2012.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai Plot:
A group of close friends drifted apart when their friend, Meiko “Menma” Honma, died in an accident. Ten years later, Jinta Yadomi lives a life of a hikkikomori (a shut in). During summer, the ghost of an older Menma appears to Jinta and tells him that she needs a wish granted otherwise she can’t move on to the afterlife. The problem is, Menma can’t remember her wish. Jinta then gathers the old group believing they can solve her problem though some of them were reluctant to do so. The situation becomes more complicated when the rest of the group accuses Jinta of only seeing things because he is not over Menma’s death but it is later revealed that it’s not only Jinta who finds it hard moving on. Each member then admits that they believe they somehow caused Menma’s death and eventually help Menma and themselves move on.

Honma Meiko – “Menma” used to be part of the Super Peace Busters before she died in an accident. She returns as a ghost to Jinta and asks him to make her wish come true but forgets what the wish was.
Yadomi Jinta – Jinta or Jintan was an active young boy and the leader of the Super Peace Busters. After Menma died, he grew up to become a hikikomori and refused to go to school. He once had a crush on Menma but refuses to admit it.
Anjou Naruko – “Anaru” is the childhood friend of Menma and Jinta and a member of the Super Peace Busters. Naruko always appears to be cold towards Jinta but actually worries about him.
Tsurumi Chiriko – “Tsuruko” is a member of the Super Peace Busters. She’s usually the quiet member but is actually very intelligent. She is close friends with Atsumu and are in the same high school and harbors feelings for him.
Matsuyuki Atsumu – “Yukiatsu” is a member of the Super Peace Busters. He is considered the handsome and smart one since he made it into an elite high school. He belittles Jinta for bringing up Menma and not being over her but in actuality, is still not over her death.
Hisakawa Tetsudou – “Poppo” is a member of the Super Peace Busters. When the group was still together, he admired Jinta for being cool and always looked forward to being with the group as he was awkward as a child. Poppo doesn’t go to school but travels the world earning money from odd jobs and lives the Super Peace Busters base when not overseas.
