Are we sure this is Ren? I think it might be Aoba's brother Sei.
Ren is always picture with facial marks and Sei is in the hospital in the game from what I understand.

Nope, nope. When Sei was 'destroyed', he gave his body to Ren in the end so that Aoba could be with him.
